We Endorse John McCain
It will surprise no one that Charisma is endorsing John McCain for president of the United States. The actual endorsement will appear in our October issue, in the mail on Sept. 15. You are getting an advance copy here.
But what may surprise you is why we chose him over the other candidate. We understand why some like Barack Obama. He is young and personable, and his call for change is something that resonates with many Americans. He has reached out to the evangelical community as has no other Democrat since Jimmy Carter. And he is clear when he articulates his Christian faith, even though he has stated publicly that
Christianity is not the only road to heaven. We applaud the fact that Obama is the first African-American to be nominated by a major party. We believe it's time America elected a person of color as president.
But otherwise we can't support him. One reason is his lack of experience. He does not have one major accomplishment to his name in his life as a public servant. Another reason is his view on the sanctity of life. Even though he told me in a meeting with Christian leaders in June that he does not believe in abortion, he says the first thing he'll do as president is pass the Freedom of Choice Act, a law which would annihilate every state law limiting or regulating abortion, including the federal ban on partial birth abortion. This nation is greatly divided on the issue of abortion. But most evangelicals agree that abortion is wrong. I believe this issue alone will cause many Americans who would otherwise vote for a likeable candidate such as Obama to vote against him.
The third reason we cannot support Obama is his sympathy toward those who are attempting to legitimize homosexuality. Since the beginning of recorded history, marriage has been defined as a union between one man and one woman, an institution designed by God for the primary purpose of bringing children into the world and raising them in a family. But radicals in our country now want to change the definition to include unions between two people of the same sex. Many of them are also pushing for the passage of legislation that would give homosexuals special legal rights and that would protect them from "hate speech," loosely defined as language that criticizes them in any way, even if it is based on biblical beliefs. We must not elect a leader who will support this legislation or aid the homosexual agenda in any way—because if same-sex marriage is ever legalized or protected on a national level, there will be no turning back.
But the argument against Obama and for McCain goes beyond their levels of experience and their stands on abortion and homosexuality. There is a basic difference in their philosophies of government. McCain is for limited government, and Obama sees government as the solution to all major problems in society. As Marc Nuttle says in his book Moment of Truth, the Democrats would take us down a dark path toward big government. Such a government would limit our freedoms and increase oppressive control. Picture France and Germany—and then contrast this image with that of the America McCain would lead. Below, I give you an opportunity to get a copy of this important book. Click Here
In an interview with Rick Warren at Saddleback Church in August, McCain and Obama gave answers that were polar opposites. When asked about evil, Obama mentioned Darfur and child abuse—both standard liberal answers. But McCain didn't hedge about evil in the world. He said he'd stop at nothing to get Osama bin Laden. He wants to bring our troops home from Iraq, but only "in victory and with honor," while Obama has said he'd be willing to negotiate with terrorist governments such as Iran. View Interview Here
McCain would allow offshore drilling to solve the dependence on Middle Eastern oil. Obama would oppose it. And they would each support very different candidates for the Supreme Court.
In the Saddleback interview, McCain was strong, decisive and honest about himself in a way that caught everyone by surprise. (If you missed the interview, you can click here to watch it.)McCain is a true American hero who has served this country well in Congress for nearly 25 years. He has a history of bipartisanship, yet he is definitely his own man—something that comes through in his interview with me that will also appear in the October issue of Charisma.
Now there is an extra reason to vote for John McCain—his choice of Gov. Sarah Palin of Alaska as his running mate. I applaud him for this wise choice. As you probably know, Palin's record as a strong conservative on issues such as anti-abortion, pro-family and a supporter of gun rights have rallied the Republican Party's conservative base and at the same time sent the liberal left into a frenzy. Later I'll write about Gov. Palin, but first I want a chance to interview her personally and to research her background.Interestingly for a magazine that has served the Pentecostal/charismatic community for more than three decades, Sarah Palin has an Assemblies of God background. That's not reason alone to vote for her—just as John McCain's record as a war hero alone doesn't make him qualified to be president. But it does tell me something about her values and belief system. I'll opine more about this later.
To me, the choice is clear: Obama's presidency would be a disaster in many ways; McCain's would move our country in the right direction. We urge you to encourage everyone you know to back John McCain and vote for him on November 4.

I will continue to support Barack Obama for President. I am a Christian, someone that God allowed free choice. Who am I to take that away from anyone? God placed Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden and told them what to do, and what to eat. He didn't remove the tree, but gave them a choice to obey him or not. Who am we to take that away those freedoms from anyone? Every consequence has an action, and it is up to us to determine what path we will choose. Not government to determine it for us.

Why is that evangelical\conservative magazines continue to endorse republican candidates blindly...just 'cause they are republican. When it comes to serving the poor, helping children and other less fortunate..democrats seem to be there. Where are the republicans? Aren't these Jesus commandments to us?

Thank you for a pretty straighforward explanation. Unfortunately, after the history of the last eight years, there is no way in which one can credibly argue that McCain, as a Republican, stands for, believes in, or will act in such a way as to bring about more "limited government". I suppose that the problem is simply a lack of knowledge on your part, but wonder whether that is excusable. Government is much bigger now, the debt and deficit is much higher now, government intrusion is much greater now, than before, even to the point where the administration has asserted and exercised the right to jail American citizens without cause, evidence or trial forever, as well as the right to torture. This is almost absolute power, and most of it was accrued under the Republican legislative dominance prior to 2006. The Iraq war itself has been kept off the books, and financed by borrowed money. Republicans want more government, bigger government, and more expensive government. That is the historical record. They simply want to do different things with it, and to serve different financial interests, including cronies, such as the oil companies or KBR/Halliburton. Corruption and no bid contracts are not sanctified or scriptural. One can support or question the priority of those interests, but one cannot honestly and credibly say that Republicans and McCain believe in or would bring about smaller or limited government. Your other reasons for voting against Obama, notwithstanding the fact that the lack of personal morality on the part of McCain is now deemed "old news" and irrelevant, are sincere and understandable. This one is not.

I am not surprised by your support of McCain. However, your wrong let me point to several key points. First, McCain hasn't had any executive experience either that you proclaim he has had. If we don't bring our troops home what will happen to the continual killing of our young men and women. I guess their lives don't matter? As to the issues the econonmy isn't MCCain or McWar strong points who will be running the country special interst groups just like with Bush. I hope your faith is strong you will need it in the months and years to come when and if he is elected. Don't ask GOD for any help he knows your heart and why you support McCain for real. He is WHITE. Stop the hate. If you love the lord see this as it is. God wouldn't have allow Obama to get this far in this process if he wasn't working on his behalf. Your views on him are one-sided and of course racist overtones are all over your message. The evangencial are white people and MCCain stated exactly what you wanted to hear from him to avoid your feeling guilty for not voting for a Black man for president. Be clear god is not mocked and the country will pay for this moment in history. As a christian who do you believe your pastor or GOD? I am sure most evangs believe their pastors before GOD.

McCain got the questions before he was interviewed. He Cheated.
Why are you coming out for McCain after he chose Palin to run on the ticket with him? I am now questioning your judgement. I am a Christian, I am anti-abortion and against same sex marriage. I can't follow the thought patterns that are just concerned for me and my kind.

Christians Today Pray like never before for Sarah Palin so that the rage against life and family will be ended and she will rise up like an Esther to stop the abortion holocaust . http://www.facebook.com/sarahpalin
You all HAVE to watch this video of Sarah Palin basically prophesying at her Church!
http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1766638341
Then Queen Esther answered, "If I have found favor with you, O king, and if it pleases your majesty, grant me my life—this is my petition. And spare my people—this is my request. 4 For I and my people have been sold for destruction and slaughter and annihilation." Esther 7:3-4
What is more innocent and precious in the eyes of God than a Child created in his image and likeness that is to be born. If we are silent the rocks will cry out and there will be blood on our hands. This week at my Church a black minister from Africa Anselm Madubuko preached a sermons called "God is a God of blood." I like never before am stirred up by this revelation. The only blood that can heal our land is the blood of Christ. All other blood defiles the land, that is why even the sacrifices in the Old Testament where made on an altar and not on the soil. Yet we as the Church for the sake of convenience are silent. Yet we are called to care for the blood of even the wicked..
7 "Son of man, I have made you a watchman for the house of Israel; so hear the word I speak and give them warning from me. 8 When I say to the wicked, 'O wicked man, you will surely die,' and you do not speak out to dissuade him from his ways, that wicked man will die for [a] his sin, and I will hold you accountable for his blood. 9 But if you do warn the wicked man to turn from his ways and he does not do so, he will die for his sin, but you will have saved yourself. Ezekiel 33:7-9
The more so we should care for our children.
36 The LORD said to me: "Son of man, will you judge Oholah and Oholibah? Then confront them with their detestable practices, 37 for they have committed adultery and blood is on their hands. They committed adultery with their idols; they even sacrificed their children, whom they bore to me, [e] as food for them. 38 They have also done this to me: At that same time they defiled my sanctuary and desecrated my Sabbaths. 39 On the very day they sacrificed their children to their idols, they entered my sanctuary and desecrated it. That is what they did in my house.
Ezekiel 23:36-39

I agree with almost everything you have said here except for the part about marriage being between one man and one woman since the beginning of time. The Bible is full of examples of Godly men having multiple wives. That is not one-to-one.

Steve, many of your comments make a lot of sense, even to those who will likely support Sen. Obama. I am more than a bit concerned, however, when you suggest that "Christianity is the only way to heaven..." Jesus Christ said, "I am the way..." He did not say, "Christianity is the way"... America, and our world, need more true followers of Jesus and less Christianizing...

Thank you for letting me know, as a new subscriber, your choice for President. I respect your decision. However, I CANNOT support John McCain.
He gives a good "speech" to the veterans and promises them that he will support them. Well, in his home state of Arizona -- where I live, he has worked to the contrary! He finds little support in several of the veterans' service organizations. My husband is a veteran!
In addition, I can not help him and Ms. Palin continue Bush's 3rd term! As a female, I am appalled that John McCain would select Sarah Palin as his running mate. It is obvious that he chose her not as his best running mate, but only because of her gender.
As an independent voter, I am investing my vote in Barack Obama!

to the anonymous person who supports choice....
The problem with your theory is that people choosing abortion aren't given an informed choice. They are lied to about what they are choosing between. They arent told that they are ending a life in the most painful and brutal way imaginable. They aren't told the mental, emotional & spiritual efect they suffer after having chosen to take the life of another person.
The question isn't, "who are we to take away the freedom of choice?" the question should be who are we that we should be "who are we to play God by taking a life that he gave?"

Obama is nothing but a "post turtle" he did not get where he is by himself and he is not going anywhere by himself! Shame on anyone who votes for this man.

Why not pray that God give His people discernment in their hearts to vote for who God wants them to vote for?
I find this article unChristlike. It's as if you almost dont trust in the Lord to provide the people with the appropriate leader, so you must email us to indicate your choice.
I suggest we pray to our God for wisdom in who we should vote for. We must depend on Him, no matter who gets voted in, that this matter is in the His hands.

Many of us voted Republican because of the gay marriage issue and all we got was the most corrupt administration since the days of Nixon. I have nothing against Palin, however if it had been Obama's daughter that was pregnant then he'd have been blasted to kingdom come by all the church folks. And if it had been Obama who left his wife for a hot young one then many would be on the attack.
Lastly, about the whole "Hussein" attack, most of us don't pick our middle name. And how many nut jobs have been named "John Wayne" in America. I guess a lot of Klansmen still hide behind their Bible.

To Eric. No the Bible does not support multiple marriages, in fact it describes the consequences in detail for Solomon choosing multiple wives. Everything the Bible says isn't what the Bible supports, but the Bible gives an account of the situation. So when you read the Bible in that light you can see what the Bible really says. Jesus said that in the beginning God ordained that a man would leave his parents and cling to his wife and Peter enforced the unity of marriage being one man and one woman.

I support Barack Obama. Your organization has a right to present a position, and your position is neither surprising nor persuasive.
I am a US Citizen living abroad and my concern is primarily the vision and role of the US internationally. The destruction that was unleashed upon Iraq on the direct command of a Republican president is not the same as giving people the freedom to choose their lifestyle. It is for the Church to provide the example of godly lifestyles, godly choices and godly standards to persuade others to follow the way of God.
Obama provides a different hope for America internationally to present itself, once again, as a nation that can be respected and admired.
The lack of experience as a public servant you is also not persuasive. What is needed is not experience in Government, but the ability to marshall the country forward. Sometimes lack of experience in big government is the best thing.

I am sick and tired of folks especially people who are leaders in the Church inadvertly giving their "opinions" about who they are going to vote for. Everyone is given freedom to choose, even those of us who know, love and worship the True and Living God. God continues to give us a choice. Why is it so difficult for us to allow others to make their own decisions without trying to influence the choices of others?
Well, we thank you so much for expressing your choice, but know that for some of us it will not impact the decision that we make to vote our conscience.

I live in a country outside America and cannot for the life of me work out why the American church (and in this case Strang Publishing) needs to make an endorsement of any candidate. In my country the church sees its job as helping people make an informed decison by hosting debates and pointing out issues that God may care about, but it never endorses - it leaves that decison to individuals who can actually vote. With essentially only two parties to choose from, you have forced yourself to choose one over the other - and perhaps niether are worthy of our support as Christ followers. Your email is just plain wierd and shows itself to be more American than it is Christian.

I am deeply disappointed that you have decided to use this great magazine to air your personal views. To compound the problem you highlighted your reasons but did not give us what God said. Lee O'Grady wrote about the lack of discernment in this same episode yet you have not really shown if you were dissecting Obama by that same gifting. If God decides to choose a David despite his yotuh and imperfections over Eliab who was a man of war, decorated and skilled who are we to question him? I think we all need to be careful here and not say what God has not expressly told us. I support Obama and won't vote on sentiment. I saw him 18 months ago and knew there was something about this guy that shouts moment of destiny. he is going to shock McCain just as he shocked Hillary Clinton. The whole Clinton machinery could not stop him and so also will McCain not be able to stop him. This guy made a true conversion unlike McCain whose story we do not know. McCain does not represent the evangelicals and adding Palin does not alter that fact.

I am saddened by the devisiveness in the Church concerning this election. I am saddened by those who continually insist on making race an issue. Obama is a gifted orator but how anyone can translate that to on par to possessing the experience to lead our great nation in these troubled and dangerous times is beyond common sense. His rhetoric has become the opiate of the people in my opinion. He has abstained from numerous votes in the Senate for who knows what good reasons. He has absolutely no experience to lead our great nation. I think Joe Lieberman said it well. Perhaps someday Obama will be ready to lead our country but he is not ready now. There is absolutely no tangible evidence to the contrary.
Getting angry and calling someone a racist about this fact makes no sense whatsoever.

Your endorsement of John McCain while not unexpected is based on hypocrisy. This publication has always supported Republicans, period. This publication is also racist. The Republican party has always claimed it stood for moral and family values. Its editor is constantly harping on immorality in its leaders yet it has given John McCain a morality free pass. Check his marital history. Now you seek to justify teenage pregnancy, premarital sex, and lack of parental control. If a person cannot keep their children in school, both Palin's daughter and her baby's father dropped out, how can she be expected to run the USA. This endorsement flies in the face of everything this publication and the Republican party has ever stood for. It turned liberal overnight with the selection of a young, white female. This was a dishonest selection by John McCain for the wrong reasons. There are hardly any people of color at the convention as evidenced by TV. It is clearly a white male dominated event, like it always has been. The Republican party is attempting to sell us Christians a bag of goods and I for one am not buying it. You must think we got off the boat yesterday. Gov. Palin must be rejected for all the reasons the Republican party has beat up liberals and moderates in the past. She does not pass the sniff test. Sorry, I am not buying it!! How can Christians be pro-life (against abortion) but pro-death (for the death penalty) at the same time. I am pro-life from cradle to grave. Tell the truth. You are not supporting Barack Obama because he is a black man. If his teenage daughter was pregnant, unmarried and a high school drop out this publication based on its prior history would be eating him alive. You guys need to do an integrity and Bible check!

I am not American although I've been following this election with keen interest.
As an outsider, I will caution Mr. Strang and other Christians who are quick to condemn Sen. Obama. Obama may not have provided succinct answers to the questions asked by Rev. Rick Warren however let us not forget the answer he provided to the question about evil. He provided a profound answer while Sec. McCain's answer had a rather narrow minded view.
Christians should not also forget that God is able to use whoever He desires to accomplish His purposes. America has deviated from its Christian principles so much that it has become a country that needs to go back to seek the Lord's face.
Now do Republican Christians think that having Sen.McCain as president will cause American to be Christian? Or, is it an issue of limiting God's Supremacy and Sovereignty if Obama were to be president.
I would sound a note of caution to Mr. Strang and all Republican Christians to rather pray for America in these very turbulent times rather than demonize Sen. Obama.
The issue of Iraq has been interpreted in many ways and think about the untold sufferings Iraqi families have to go through because of this illegal war?
Mr. Strang, you have command of your articles however be circumspect in how you and other Republicans impose your ideas on others.
Thanks!

No where did you indicate that sought God's will in prayer.
No scriptural support for your choice/position.
You cherry pick issues that advance your agenda and conveniently ignore those that do not.
You would condemn the candidate you do not like for one reason and praise the candidate you like for the very same reason.
Most people subscribed to you to get spiritual nourishment not knowing that you have a different agenda.
Your interest is money and personal gain.
You patronise your black readership when you know very well that you would argue differently if Obama were a white male.

McCain Rejects Parsley Endorsement
May 22, 2008 10:34 PM
ABC News’s Bret Hovell reports: Sen. John McCain rejected the endorsement of a second controversial pastor Thursday, saying there is no place for the Rev. Rod Parsley’s comments about Islam.
“I believe there is no place for that kind of dialogue in America, and I believe that even though he endorsed me, and I didn't endorse him, the fact is that I repudiate such talk, and I reject his endorsement,” McCain said in a statement.
The rejection of Parsley’s endorsement comes several hours after McCain rejected the endorsement of Pastor John Hagee, who made controversial comments about the Holocaust and Catholics.
ABC News’s Brian Ross reported Thursday on "Good Morning America" that Parsley has called Islam “the mouthpiece of a conspiracy of spiritual evil,” and that Islam is an “anti-Christ religion that intends through violence to conquer the world.”
http://blogs.abcnews.com/politicalradar/2008/05/mccain-rejects.html
STOCKTON, Calif. -- Republican John McCain on Thursday rejected endorsements from two influential but controversial televangelists, saying there is no place for their incendiary criticisms of other faiths.
McCain rejected the months-old endorsement of Texas preacher John Hagee after an audio recording surfaced in which the preacher said God sent Adolf Hitler to help Jews reach the promised land. McCain called the comment "crazy and unacceptable."
He later repudiated the support of Rod Parsley, an Ohio preacher who has sharply criticized Islam and called the religion inherently violent.
McCain issued a statement Thursday afternoon announcing his decision about Hagee.
"Obviously, I find these remarks and others deeply offensive and indefensible, and I repudiate them. I did not know of them before Reverend Hagee's endorsement, and I feel I must reject his endorsement as well," he said.

ABC News' Bret Hovell reports: As his Democratic rival wrapped up his European tour in France and London, Sen. John McCain attempted to steal back the media spotlight -- employing some Zen-like help from His Holiness the Dalai Lama.
The two met privately in Aspen, Colorado Friday before emerging from a private residence in Aspen. They walked out holding hands.
McCain said he was honored to meet with the Dalai Lama, and stressed the importance of his work for human rights.
"The Dalai Lama has time and again emphasized that he asked only that the Tibetan people are provided with basic rights to preserve their culture, language and religious beliefs," McCain said.
"His nonviolence approach and his lifelong approach of seeking common ground around cultural and religious divides are an inspiration for all of mankind and to millions of Americans."

I don't live in the US, so have been watching the run up to the presidency with a lot of interest, & at times amazement. While I understand your commitment to vote for somebody whose personal agenda on abortion & gay marriage you agree with, & by the way I totally agree with your views on that area, I can't help feeling you are missing the whole picture. The Bush administration is seen world wide as the epitomy of corruption & greed. The war in Iraq is being fought to protect your ability to gain access to relatively cheap oil & the US is seen as being out of step with the rest of the world. You ask if people would prefer a system of government like France or Germany & the American people should be saying yes please! At least they would then have access to a decent health system and some sort of livable benefit if they are unemployed or disabled. By the way, Sarah Palin may be rightly categorised as anti-abortion, but as somebody who is also protrayed as a gun advocate it is not valid to describe her as pro-life.

I'm a fundamentalist Christian who is going to "write in" Ron Paul on the ballot in Nov. God is completely soveriegn over every action of man, and as such whether Mccain, Obama, Paul, or whomever gets elected God will use them for God's purposes alone. I for one vote on principle and as there are no acceptable candidates besides Ron Paul, I'll vote for him, regardless of people saying I'm throwing my vote away. IF people want change in Washington it seems more likely to start with independents getting elected then it does Republicans or Democrats. If you study the founding father's wishes, you'll find they never wanted two parties to "control" the nation. We've fallen greatly from our heights we were founded on, but God is faithful so we need to be faithful. As someone already mentioned the best thing we can do is pray for this nation, and not focus on differences, instead find unity as a Christian people, and as Americans. God bless you and America.

Wow, when I read what "Anonymous wrote, 'I hope your faith is strong you will need it in the months and years to come when and if he is elected. Don't ask GOD for any help he knows your heart and why you support McCain for real. He is WHITE. Stop the hate. If you love the lord see this as it is. God wouldn't have allow Obama to get this far in this process if he wasn't working on his behalf'", I nearly passed out. Obama is half white, so if voting for either Obama or McCain is based upon them being "white" then I guess any way that you vote, you'll be voting for a white guy!
Maybe you are the one that is "hating", I don't know, I can't see your heart. But I also guess that God wouldn't have allowed Hitler to get as far as he did if He wasn't working on his behalf, right? That is skewed logic.
We need to vote based upon how the Holy Spirit would direct us. Fast, pray, seek, and ask and do what the Lord would have you to do even if it goes against what you feel like. Be obedient and vote according to God's word and God's choice. America needs strong Christan people to stand up for what is right. This is a country for the people - by the people, not for the people by the government.

I appreciate the information that this magazine continues to publish. We can only make appropriate decisions in our choices when we are informed to the utmost. Everyone has their own opinions of who would be the better leader of this great country of ours and the reasons differ as much as the people. We are truly blessed beyond measure that we are able to even have such open discussions much less express such varied opinions. We have CHOICES and I,for one, am grateful for that. Each candidate brings their own strengths as well as their own weaknesses. This is where wisdom from THE ONE WHO IS ABLE is extremely necessary. Each one of us needs to seek the guidance of the Almighty to see whom He would have us to vote for on November 4. Remember when Israel wanted a king and God gave them Saul? He removed himself from his people even though He gave them what they thought they wanted. We as believers in Jesus Christ need to unite in prayer as never before for our country and its leaders. God gives us the right to choose our path but with that comes the responsiblity of accepting the results of our choices. I pray that God, who is faithful and merciful, will not remove His hand of grace from this nation. Pray, fast, and seek His face and heart before you vote on November 4.

After reading through your endorsement, and then reading the comments....I AM SHOCKED at the lack of understanding of so-called Christians. What kind of gospel are we teaching? The American church has obviously failed to teach about "Spirit and truth". It is scary for me to think these kind of folks will vote! please I urge all readers here to be informed and line up the candidates' comments alongside Scripture.

Though disappointed with your endorsement, I'm not surprised at your choice. A registered democrat, I voted for George Bush when he initially ran on family values, anti-gay marriage, etc; yet to my surprise the country lapsed significantly in each area during his tenure! As a Christian who believes the word of God from Genesis to Revelation, this republican party has consistently worked contrary to the book of love. Rather than caring for the less fortunate, pursuing peace, ensuring the liberty of all men and sharing in God's prosperity this party has continued the great divide. As "evangelicals" nothing has been done, other than talk to spread the good news of Jesus Christ to all. Our country will continue this downward trend until the leader declares his love for the Lord and live accordingly. Barack Obama has exemplified his love for the Lord, his spouse, children and family like none other. Not just in words, but in action. Unlike McCain, he doesn't demean his competitor, rather stays focused on the issues at hand. Obama is a wise man, and we all know that wisdom comes from God alone. I will continue to support him and trust God to continue to lead him in his efforts. As it relates to "experience", look at the current President. Does experience automatically equate to wisdom? I think not!

I will continue to support Barack Obama. I am against abortion, but, my opinion is that it will not change because it is a matter of the heart and doesn't belong in politics. I can't vote for a candidate based on two issues alone, issues that are mostly governed by state legislation, anyway. I think it is good that we can be brothers and sisters in the Lord and yet still hold different political views. Awesome.

Isn't it funny, how the title of the blog is WE ENDORSE JOHN MCCAIN.
When actually it should something like WHY WE HATE OBAMA.
Ok, maybe hate is a harsh word.
But WHY is Strang and his magazine playing the same game as the democrats (opponent bashing)?
I will answer that for you - because there is no difference between the Republicans and Democrats.
The more I live life, I am finding there is little difference between those professing their faith in public circles, and those wasting their lives away in bars or on drugs.
WHEN will the church WAKE UP??
The Republican party is NOT the answer to what ails the church. No matter who they pick, it is all the same - smoke and mirrors.
There IS a third party who is NOT criticizing the other candidates, they are STATING FACTS, and they are more closely aligned with CHRISTIAN values and the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES - more than the Republican and Democrats COMBINED!!
Chuck Baldwin is the man, and the Constitution Party is the one.

Thank you for your article and for writing with such a clear explanation of why you are supporting McCain. I cry for all the babies that will never get to shed a tear under Obama's plan. His lack of support for the Born Alive Infant Protection act sealed my choice for McCain. I am thankful to live in a country where we are free to express our political views even when they are not the same. Although, I have been verbally attacked for expressing my support of McCain, I will continue to do so.

Who you vote for and the reasons why are yours. There is no way that I would ever use the Pulpit to tell our congregation who to endorse. I would only encourage them to excercise their freedom and get out there and "vote"! It is the responsibility of each american to do the reasearch and select a candidate they are led to chose! I have read so many comments about who to vote for and that is exactly what Mr. Strang is telling the readers. I pray he is not the main publisher of this Charisma because he just deflated my opinion of it and I dont want to do that. Is there anyone else at the wheels. They need to get the steering wheel before there is a bad collision. This country need to get on their face and seek the Lord and it should be left like that. I dont believe in same sex marriage nor abortion but if you are living a Godly lifestyle you wont have to hold guns on people to stop them from doing something that is against God. He gave free will and people will have to live with the choices they make.

I believe that the WORD of God is clear about righteousness exalting a land - and abortion and homosexuality are unrighteous acts and sins that defile any land. It is not about McCain or Obama it is about the Kingdom of God and its righteousness. The issue of compassion belongs to the church and not the government. I support McCain because of the points raised by Mr Strang and if you are truly Spirit led based on His WORD - you will understand what the warfare is about - the future of America spiritually. I am a Christian and I am neither a Republican nor Democrat. I want God's kingdom to come in America in my lifetime. I must say that I am in no way surprised by Mr. Strang's support of McClain. The handwriting has been on the wall for some time. For the record, John McClain is no clearer on his religious beliefs than you accuse Obama of being. He said what he thought his backers wanted him to say at Saddleback, just like President Bush, and we all know how that has turned out. While I am not in favor of abortion or homosexuality, it continues to amaze me at how certain of the Christian family always manages to pull those two issues out of their self-righteous bag like no other sins or societal ills exist. You use those two issues to hide behind what the real issue is... "You don't think any African American is capable of leading this nation as President". The root of it is racism, plain and simple.

I cannot personally believe anything that republicans say anymore, I dont care if John Mc Cain says that he is going nail himself to a cross,I still dont trust these people anymore. If Mc Cain became president he will most likley do something ungodly and then you will be writting an article about how no one had dicernment and how Christians should not have endoursed him just like all the ministers who fell that you once endoursed. Please be more careful about endoursing people.
I am not even endoursing Obama but I think I may have to vote for him because the Holy Spirit inside me says that something is very wrong with John McCain, he may be talking the talk but he is not going to walk the walk!

I am a Christian and I am supporting Sen. Obama. I have one question for all Christians who are basing their decision to vote for Sen. John McCain the two issues of abortion and gay marriage. Can you legislate morality? If so, why didn't Jesus change the laws of the land to Judeo-Christian beliefs. He didn't run for governor or to be ceasar, because he was focus on establishing a heavenly kingdom.

There is so much I disagree with in this article, but it can be summed up in one point:
Christians like the people of this magazine are sheep who listen to the rhetoric spouted off by the republicans and blindly cast their vote. In doing so you spout that the candidate is pro-life, anti-gay, and whatever silly issue you believe you are voting on.
Of course you ignore the fact that the Republicans are pro guns, pro war, pro torture, pro discrimination, and are more concerned with money than actually living according to the standard that Jesus set with his lifestyle.
I can see now that this is just another "north american watered down christianity" magazine that is more concerned with what a candidate for the president SAYS rather than what the candidate DOES.
McCain is a wife dumping, gold digging, lying, cheating, manipulating politician and should in no way be endorsed by any person claiming to be a servant of the Lord.
I can see now why McCain chose Palin as his vice. It is to steal the vote from ridiculously thoughtless sheep such as the ones that publish this magazine.

Wow. I can say that after reading the comments to this post I am ashamed to be a Christian in America. Not because of Steve's endorsement. I support his right to do that, and happen to agree. But people's response to it as appalling and ignorant. Christians don't "blindly" accept all republicans, I think most people "blindly" listen to the media and how they skew everything to the left. I cannot support someone who supports abortion, I cannot and will not. I cannot support someone who says in his book "Audacity of Hope" that one of his mentors is Jeremiah Wright who is a racist and very anti-american. I cannot support someone who cannot even provide his birth certificate and prove his citizenship. Therefore I cannot support Barack Obama, even though the media would love me to. I will not listen to everything the media tells me, I will do my own research and make my own decision. And my decision is McCain/Palin.

I am actually disappointed in the fact that you would use your publicaation to try and convince not only people, but Christian people on who to vote for in the election. I am so tired of hearing the McCain is a "real american hero" line as if he was G.I. Joe. I am tired of hearing that Obama does not have any experience. David did not have any experience, but somehow he became king. Moses did not have any experience, but he led the people out of Egypt. I am certainly not putting Obama on the same level as these great men of God, but at some point they were given the chance. Mr. Strang you are entitled to your opinion, but in my opinion you should not preach politics. If it is for McCain to be president, then so be it. If it is for Obama to be president, so be it. Don't use your media outlet which was intended on uplifting our walk with Christ into something to support political parties.

Although abortion and homosexuality are important issues, they are single issues on which Obama may eventually see the light. This seems to me much more likely than that the Republicans will ever see the light on global inequality and the root causes of terrorism and global conflict. If subscribing to Charisma implicates me in support of the American Right, whether religious or otherwise, I don't want a bar of it.

I have read the article and I respect your decision to vote for McCain, however, I am deeply saddened that in all the reasons that you have used to justify your vote, that you never once suggested to your audience to continue to pray for both candidates and seek the wisdom of God on how to vote. While many other individuals have endorsed their candidate of choice and are free to do so; you have a responsibility to your audience. Many look to you for spiritual guidance, I implore you not to be careful in the way that you speak. The voice that you have been given is not to be taken lightly neither must it be used foolishly. I will caution you in the days ahead to be extremley careful with your interpretations of the way in which you understand this process. Your first responsibility is to please God. In the future, encourage the people to pray, seek the face of God. Let God guide them for we understand that promotion comes from God and God is neither republican nor democrat. He is God.
Please leave your personal feelings out of this. Because we recognize that this article was clearly that, personal.

Steve,
Some of those anonymous posts are by the same people, evidenced by their writing style.
Anyway, I was absolutely against McCain and Obama. I wouldn't probably vote for either, but I'd love Sarah Palin for a President/VP. I have many friends and clients in Alaska and they've said only great things about her.
Frankly, I would almost tell people to find a way to go back and start all over again. I'm not willing to vote someone in that would sign any kind of legislation that would eventually affect our rights to preach the Gospel, even the part against homosexuality. By the same token, John McCain seems old and out of touch. Just my opinion. If I'm forced to vote, it would be McCain because of views. We as Christians must learn that we are our profession. I am a Christian and it affects everything, EVERY thing in my life, including who I vote for. Another thing about that, if I was a candidate and had the nerves to say I believed Christ was the Way, then I couldn't support, or sign legislation that went against the core of who Christ is.
Come on people. We are ambassadors for Christ. It's time to pray and seek the Lord. I don't believe you did the wrong thing, Steve. I believe, however, that this is going to be a huge deal for everyone voting. Christians are now going to be put to the test. Who are you, REALLY? Show me what you believe.

First of all I am a subscriber to Charisma and will continue to pay for it and support it until the Rapture. I am not surprised at your endorsement of Senator McCain. As believers we know that Abortion and Homosexuality is an abomination. However, so is Racism, Poverty, Unequal Pay, yet the Christian right focuses on the two sins that are between the individual and God. John McCain, cheated on his first wife, lived in "sin" with his current wife, has called her publicly a vile name, Mrs McCain has been arrested for drug usage, yet these are the "family values" that we are to look up to. God has forgiven John and Cindy McCain, that does not mean that He wants them in the White House. Be careful Charisma in your endorsement, it is more important that God endorse you, than you endorse Mr McCain.

They hide under the cover of religion but commit the worst artrocities the world has ever known. Bush led us to war for his selfish reasons, while thousands of lives has been lost in that war, Bush and his cronies are smiling to the banks with oil windfalls and no bid contracts, meanwhile I have never read your condemnation of the war. Some of you republicans from the church leaders like yourself to the politicians are worse than the infidels. How can you claim to love God when it is hard for you to love and care for the poor around you day and night, cutting taxes for the super rich and neglecting the poor. Please stop this issue of homosexuality and abortion, afterall Bush campaigned on both issues, what did he do, nothing.

Mr. Strang: I am very disappointed with your endorsement of John McCain. John McCain is an adulterer, he left the wife of his youth, the mother of his children to marry his now current wife (Cindy MCain.) In reading Cindy's biography I can't help but wonder if her many trials were a result of her sin i.e., the addiction to drugs and alcohol as well as the number of miscarriages that she suffered early in their marriage? Adultery is sin. Her families wealth was made from selling alcohol and alcoholic beverages is this not a sin? What does the bible teach about sobriety and drunkness? I am insulted and outraged that inregards of the GOP's acceptance of Sarah Palin I am concerned that she has allowed her personal aspirations to succeed in politics at al costs has been at the demise of her family. Whose raising the children? I thank God that she believes in the sanctity of life, I too believe in the sanctity of life. However I can't help but wonder how many more women would have made the same choice "to keep their "special needs children" if they were in her position" you see Sarah Plain can afford the medical bills with her very generous salary and health plan afforded her by the State of Alaska. She has chose to give birth to five children and has not sacrificed her career or personal aspirations yet I have to wonder what is she teaching her children?
Could it be that abstinence should be practiced by America's poor teenagers who are not blessed to have a supportive family to bring the babies home too? Do we now have a new poster child for our daughters? We are sending mixed signals. Teen Pregnancy boy marries the young lady? Granted it is an honorable thing to do marry the young lady, however how are they going to support the baby? Will the marriage survive? Their baby willbe a product of fornication, young uneducated parents? Where are the family values?
God Bless America....
I pray that all Christian's saved and unsaved would fall on their face and cry out before God and repent of their sins....And turn from their evil and arrogant ways!

Americans shouldn't forget that homosexuality and all the vices republicans cry about multiplied during the past 8 years under a Republican president - a Christian! Isn't this a shame if this is the argument being used by this media against Obama?
It's sad that a few months ago, Steve Strang awarded a gold medal to McCain and a bronze medal to Obama. Stop taking sides and ask Christians to seek the face of God and turn America back to the principles of its foundations. Under the Republican government, prayer in most schools has become an abomination, the ten commandements were taken out of their original place.
One advice to you Americans - pray the prayer Jesus taught His disciples ".....Thy Kingdom come, Thy will be done on earth as it is in Heaven...."

Steve, I will not renew my subscription to Charisma because it concerns me that by simply putting a Pentecostal Evangelical on the ticket, you're willing to overlook all of the other questionable attributes of this John McCain. Prior to his selection of Sarah Palin, most Evangelicals were planning on holding their noses - if they went to the voting booth at all. This doesn't change with the selection of a VP. McCain will still be the president, he called his wife a vulgar name in front of the press, later he suggested that she compete in a wet t-shirt contest...and the way he selected Palin (a politically strategic choice to appeal to/dupe Evangelicals in the Republican base) is an example of the kind of shoot-from-the-hip decision making that I feel disqualifies him from being in one of the most powerful offices in the world.
Furthermore, is you're going to disparage Barack Obama, or any other candidate, please tell the truth and state the facts as they are. It sounds like you're trying to stretch the facts to convince people why not to vote for Barack - which still doesn't answer the question...why SHOULD anyone vote for McCain? Let your yea be yea.

Has anyone taken the time to read Rules for Radicals by Saul Alinsky (c) 1971 ??
If not - please do so before commenting further. (I bought my copy on ebay. It will explain a lot.)
Here is a section from an article which quotes the book and connects BHO, II with Alinsky.
'Obama calls his years as an Alinskyesque community organizer in Chicago "the best education I ever had, and where I learned the true meaning of my Christian faith." But as radicalism expert Richard Lawrence Poe has noted, "Camouflage is key to Alinsky-style organizing. In organizing coalitions of black churches in Chicago, Obama caught flak for not attending church himself. He became an instant churchgoer."
Indeed, Alinsky believed in sacrificing ethics and morals for the great cause. "Ethical standards must be elastic to stretch with the times," Alinsky wrote in his last book, "Rules for Radicals," adding that "all values are relative in a world of political relativity."
Published a year before Alinsky's death in 1972, "Rules for Radicals" includes a dedication in which he gives "an over-the-shoulder acknowledgment to the very first radical . . . who rebelled against the establishment and did it so effectively that he at least won his own kingdom — Lucifer."'
Furthermore I'm VERY concerned about Obama's attendance at a church where that kind of venom was spewed day in and day out, year after year for TWENTY years. If Obama did NOT know what was going on there for 20 years, why is he considered to be wise-enough to be President? Even giving him the benefit of the doubt?
I'm NOT a McCain supporter but I cannot and will not support Barack Obama.

Pray for the Christians, Christ followers, and whatever other term you may choose to raise up for such a time as this - that we would truly humble ourselves, pray, seek His face, and turn from our wicked ways - so that the Lord can heal our land!!! A man (nor a woman) can do this - only the Lord can heal our land! And we need it! Let's focus on Him and watch Him move in a mighty way.

I am really sad to see all the people calling themselves "Christians" behave so ugly about this. I am not sure I will vote for McCain, but I could never vote for anyone who is not pro-life, pro-family (as in one wife, one husband) and with a liberal anti family agenda. (Yes, I homeschool) Jesus would be the only perfect president but he works through imperfect men. If you choose to vote for Obama then exercise your free choice, but you don't have to be so hateful in what you say about other Christians in our "free choice". It sounds just like the liberal media when they stamp the abortion issue as "pro" choice or "anti" abortion. I do not vote along party lines and I am saddened by Republicans not taking enough care to help the poor, or work on environmental issues. BUT it is really NOT the governments problem but the CHURCH. The next time you want to cast stones you may think about the last time you gave up things for someone in your community FAR above your "tenth". Just a thought.
As for using the publication to promote a candidate.....That is what EVERY publication does. They may not be honest in coming right out and saying it, they just taint all of their news in the direction they want the reader brainwashed in.
As for the war - talk to some war vets about what really goes on. I do, I do PTSS counseling. Whether or not we should be there or not, has little to do with the next election. Most talking about the "vets" don't ask THEM how they felt about being over there. They believe they are making a difference in the lives of Iraqi's.
Let's see....Palin. Maybe she should have just had her daugher have a quite abortion like lots of Christians force thier children do who do not see life at the time of conception. Then no one would know and she would not be judged. Praise God her child is making the right choice and unless you have raised more than 1.5 children into adulthood without any struggles (and I have 9 kids all serving God, some who did struggle) then who are you to judge that too!
Logic and debate is just not taught today. CS Lewis would weep.

I am a born-again, Spirit-filled Christian woman. I am pro-life and excited about Palin's nomination. I will definitely be voting for John McCain. Last night I donated to his campaign. If you are pro-life too, I suggest you to do too. I hope no Christian rejects his/her civic duty and neglects to vote! I have ordered my McCain/Palin yard sign and hope to be the first in my neighborhood to display it proudly!

I am utterly baffled how a person can call themselves a Christian and vote for someone who supports abortion-the destruction of God's creation and a person that Jesus died for.
What is Christ-Like about that? We are given a choice and we will face these choices when we stand before the God of all creation, which includes the unborn.

Many of the comments to the Strang Report are appalling to me. I feel like America and the church has gone mad. The Bible speaks of a time when God would send strong delusion that men should believe a lie. I can't help but wonder if we are seeing that right now. People seem blinded to the facts about Obama. "Christians" willing to continue abortion, including late term, wipe out the state's rights, pass hate speech laws, which would jail many other Christians, for what? Because Obama seems like a "nice guy and he touts "change?" As an American and a Christian I have no intention of voting for him and I can't understand how others can. It seems so unreasonable to me. I wasn't happy with McCain as a candidate at first but I am very happy with Sarah Palin as a running mate. Talk about hypocrisy! Hypocrisy is how the left has responded to her. They said it's time for a woman--they only meann it as long as she is a lib dem. They say she is inexperienced, yet she has more experience than their presidential candidate who has never governed a day in his life --anywhere. OPen your eyes people! His short term in the senate was interupted by his run for the presidency. These reactions are not about reason. That was apparent as I watched the Democratic convention. You would think Obama was the Messiah himself. I don't think so. And I wonder, if he is elected, where we will be in the future. As to the war. Are you aware that more died in combat during Clinton's 8 years than have died during Bush's term? The liberal media only broadcasts what suits them deluding the American people and so many follow along like lemmings. Right now we do not have a draft, so every serviceman in combat at some point joined up knowing that he may be in harm's way. If you want freedom so much, allow them to decide if they believe enough in the cause to put their lives on the line. It's their choice.

Someone PLEASE tell me what the government did in the last 8 years to stop abortion. What did they do to prohibit gay marriages? ABSOLUTELY NOTHING!!! We now have several states that have legalized gay marriages. Abortion is still legal, etc. Therefore, I am not going to continue to vote for the Republican party when they do nothing for those causes. God gives us choice.....so how can I take that away from our country. I am voting for Barack and I will continue to do my job to spread God's Word. As a teacher in a public school, we need someone who cares about education and is willing to help provide for better schools, trained teachers, etc. The country is a mess and McCain is just bigger mess.

I understand your views aligning more closely with Mr. McCain. However, abortion, whether legal or illegal is not going to be solved thru government legislation. Morality cannot be defined by a law. As Christians, we need to change our nation thru Christ. I would love to see all abortion clinics close because they have no business. We need to love people into the kingdom. We have a whole generation of unchurched children growing into adulthood who need to define themselves with biblical principles, not man made laws. If we, as Christians, continue to look to government to do our work, both the church and the government will fail. Regardless of who will be residing in the White House next year, we need to change our nation from the inside, not the outside. I have been a conservative democrat all my life. I support social programs that benefit those that are in need. I also think that the pulpit is not the place for politics. Again, change happens in the heart not at the poll booth.

I don't usually waste time responding to foolishness, but enough is enough. So, according to what some anonymous person wrote, that if I vote for McCain, it's because I am prejudiced and cast my vote for him because, "He is WHITE." It couldn't possibly be because I personally feel that Obama is just not the right guy for the job? Hey! Wake up. Last account I heard, he has one black parent and one white parent.
I am sick of people playing this race card. The color of his skin has nothing to do with whether I vote for him or not, and I feel sure there are millions of Americans who share the same sentiment. If Clarence Thomas were a candidate, I would vote for him, and he is blacker than Obama! So, don't try to play your racial foolishness with intelligent, thinking people. Please!
This person also wrote, "If you love the lord see this as it is. God wouldn't have allow Obama to get this far in this process if he wasn't working on his behalf." I do agree, God allowed him to get this far. I also know, that God allowed John McCain to get this far. So, what is your point?
If you are going to vote FOR someone, just because he is of a certain race, or the same race, regardless of what platform he stands on or what his qualifications are or are not, I tend to think that you have the intellectual depth of a thimble.
Others go on about the last eight years - please remember that for the last 2 of those eight years, we have had a democratic congress, and if you'll check the records, I think you will find that that is the point when the housing market took a nose dive and the fuel prices started going insane, right along with a myriad of other things.
Then you have the liberal news media wanting to crucify Mrs. Palin because her daughter gets pregnant out of wedlock. My question is where were all of these moralistic news hounds, when Clinton, the first president in history, made a joke and laughing stock of the oval office and the position of President of the U.S? Then told one lie on top of another and insults the intelligence of the American people and says, "I did not have sex with that woman."
As an old football coach used to say, "anyone with one eye and half a brain", knows that both sides are playing politics. One side is playing the race card and the other side is playing the gender card. Come on, it's politics!
But don't dare accuse people, who simply because they don't agree with you, of being racially prejudiced. Grow up!

Mr. Strang,
I honestly believe that you should not have embroilled yourself in politics. Your magazines are in the fore front of informing the people of the various Christian developments that are currently happening all over the world and i must say that you all did a pretty good job.
It is fair to say that no one is perfect and there are some events which you all have reported turn out to be controversial ubsequently especially the Lakeland series of meetings (I would not call it a revival). all these point to a few things which we all have to face:
1. There is a lacking of understanding and interpretation of 'Truth'. It is an established method to detect counterfeit is to know the 'real' stuff so throughly that you could spot a phoney when you see one.
2. There is a culture of 'showmansip' attached to the works of the 'Spirit'. It is true that in the last days, the Lord is continuing to reveal more of Himself to us so that we can know Him more and build up faith to do his endtime harvest. The Holy Spirit is the Spirit of God and His presence brings 'Love, Joy, Peace' and it certaintly does not bring confusion and dissension. The Holy Spirit is an uniting force and His action bears witness to JESUS and no one else. No matter how much manifestations has occurs and if it does not bring glory to Jesus then I'm not interested.
3. Politics is the works of men and there is absolutely no necessity for your magazine to be involved in it. I agree with some of the comments saying that 'all Christian' love america and will pray and seek the Lord to make the right choice. The fact that there are just as many comments supporting and not supporting your magazine's endorsement shows that you could be 'right' as well be 'wrong'. If John McCain is ultimately voted in and he messes up the country in the same manner as George Bush, then what is your endorsement worth? If John McCain passes on during the presidency (not that I hope it will happen), how will Sarah Pailin (who is currently under investigation for power abuses, etc) who has no experience in running a country much less foreign policy run the country?
Obama chosed to work with the under privileged in Chicago to better their lives because he believes in public service. It did not bring him riches nor public recognition and I believe that it is just as heroic as John Mc Cain who serve the country during the war. John McCain does not embodies all the christian principles and neither does Barack Obama because all of them compromise Godly principles for political mileage.
In conclusion, I feel that your magazine should stick to it's original purpose i.e. concentrate on reporting on the developments in the KIngdom of God and leave the politics aside. THE AMERICANS DESERVE THE PRESIDENT WHOM THEY ELECT AND THEY BETTER ELECT PROPERLY AS IT IS AN ELECTION OF THEIR OWN FREE WILL.
That is something America gives its citizens and GoD Bless America
Kenny

How can a Christian so blindly endorse a candidate? McCaine is not going to take care of the widows, children, the poor or even the foreigner in our land. Please read the Bible and understand that the ministry of Jesus was to individuals that did not represent the mainstream nor the acceptable lifestyle. Is McCaine a new Messiah? I am a Christian (practicing evangelical) and I will not endorse a candidate. I will select the least of the two evils and that will be Barak Obama in November!

I am a devout Christian and I abhor abortion, and homosexuality, but that is not the measure of a good leader. Look at Carter's presidency, a mess, long gas lines, 20% interest on homes, etc. Bush got my vote but he has not governed that well. I am an independent praying about my vote. Many Christians are afraid to speak their minds because the right is so judemental. Barack Obama may be young but he is smart, patient under fire, and shows class. The great ones with so much "experience" have done an awful job. If a man should have onlu one wife, that leaves out McCain. I will pray for whomever is elected. Believe me he will need it.

I concur with over 98% of all respondents who feel that the real reason why the "evangelicals" are not voting for Obama is because they are racist! I will NOT be encouraging anyone to vote for McCain! It has been the comments against Obama made by yourself and others who insist on using Christ as your scapegoat for not simply admitting your racist mindset that has me voting for Obama on November 4!!!! Further, think on this, God is not a respector of person nor is he prejudice. He is a just, righteous and holy God. People who are racist and prejudice will not be accepted by God in heaven and they will all be judged by Him accordingly.

I personally don't think either of these men are capable of putting back together our nation "One Nation Under God" yes what happened? This is exactly what Satan wanted, people against people,Mother's and Father's against there children and vice versa. Please read the bible it's in there. The end is coming! Nobody knows when but if you start reading now Revelation from beginning to end you will see how much all of this is God's devine plan. We are all sinners and need to repent and become one Nation Under GOD again or we will become just like the Isrealites and will be vanished from this earth. It really doesnt matter who wins this race because God is the true winner and until we understand that and start praying for one another and for our country and for God's wisdom and for his guidance every day there will be no change and Satan may win for the next few years but in the end our precious heavenly FATHER,SON,and HOLY SPIRIT will always win just like in the word. So come my brothers and sisters wake up and start reading the one and only true book of life,.the BIBLE that is the only true way we will become true servants of our God! by serving God and serving one another! In the bible it says we cannot be in the kingdom of God unless we are born again. I am born again I don't like to say I am this or I am that I only know that since I came to know the Lord he has changed me for the better and the more I read about Him the more connected to Him and the Holy Spirit I have become. Remember in the Bible it also says to be aware of false prophets and charmers and witchcraft ect... it also says "Seek ye first the kingdom of God and all these things shall be added unto you." So I am voting for our Lord Jesus Christ "with Him all things are possible." I believe that whoever wins we need to pray more than ever that we as the people the church, will not continue to be divided because we can say this or that it is only words but it is in our actions our heart our bodies which are our temples that only God can judge and in the end it says clearly in the bible " every knee will bow and every tongue will confess that JESUS CHRIST IS OUR LORD....can I get a witness? Thank you for giving me this oppurtunity to witness to all of you. If you haven't yet been born again please come to know our wonderful JESUS who died for our sins so that we can share eternity with Him! Hallalujia!!!!!!!!!and AMEN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I live in Montreal, Canada and do not have a vote in your election. But as a full gospel evangelical charismatic ordained minister, if I did have a vote, I would vote for John McCain. You may not realize it but in spite of being on the verge of a national election here, your election is more a part of the national and local news than ours. Many watch and discuss the progression of your election with interest knowing that in the grand scheme of things your election will make more of a difference and have a greater impact globally in the years to come than ours. With Russia boldly trying to make a way through Georgia to make a path to march down into Israel, it is imperative the United States people elect a leader who has read the end of The Book and is not afraid to stand on the Word and righteousness. I see that commitment and wisdom in John McCain. ps. My daughter was pregnant with my first grandchild when she was just 16 years even though I had raised her in The Word and had literally begged her not to be sexually active. Does that make me a bad mother or an irresponsible person or a hypocrite? Does that make my daughter any less of a Christian? Like Sara Palin the word abortion is not in our vocabulary and my oldest grand daughter, now 11 is as much a delight for our family as her "legitimate" siblings. At the end of the day the United States needs a leader who can deal with all the issues nationally and internationally for such a time as this. Once again the whole world is watching and trusting you to make the right choice. The future does depend on it.

We know it's no surprise that Charisma is endorsing McCain. Charisma has endorsed or have looked for a way to endorse John McCain since day one. While Charisma has the right endorse whomever it wants, just as everyone does as well, it is obvious that Charisma did not have a reason to endorse McCain initially. McCain has been seen by many Christians as moderate in many of his views.
I am Christian who loves the Lord, but what I have seen in the last 3 Presidential elections, including this one is hypocrisy in Christendom. President Bush said that we all get to heaven different ways, but we get to heaven. He has misquoted the Bible on many occasions. While I'm not saying that he's not a Christian, I am saying that we have been very tolerant of him.
What I'm seeing with the Republicans is that Christians want to say that God can only use Republicans. This is very misleading. They missed the boat on Huckabee and endorsed McCain. Many televangelists endorsed McCain instead of Huckabee. Why was this? What type of backroom deal do the Christian media have with the Republican Party and John McCain, that Christians wouldn't endorse Huckabee?
So, I say all of that to say this. God can use a Democrat or a Republican as long as they are saved. Senator McCain and Senator Obama have both professed Jesus Christ as their personal savior.
Now let's address the issues one by one:
1.) Christianity is not the only road to heaven: President Bush said the same thing and we looked the other way. I agree that Jesus is the only road to heaven, but why are we tolerant of President Bush?
2.) Lack of experience - Palin has no experience and while McCain has experience, his only desire to fight war. Jesus said peace, not war. Both men have experience, but of course McCain is older so if we do the Math, he has more experience. Also, God used David and he had no experience. God used President Bush and he had no experience.
3.) Sanctity of Life: He's personally against abortion. I believe that Democrats who are Christians should also say they are against abortions as well. I do see hypocrisy here. I would also note that President Bush has not overturned this since he has been in office. If this is the issue that Republicans used to get in office, then why hasn't this been over turned? It is always a woman's choice, but the law doesn't prosecute women who have abortions today. A woman's choice will never change. I pray that that everyone will be pro-life, but the law won't over turn that. It will only be over turned when we connect to the word of God.
4.) Sympathy towards homosexuality: God said love the sinner, hate the sin. Let's pray that God will deliver homosexuals. We have to be careful legislatively that we don’t allow the government to muzzle the mouths of Christians. The word has to be preached.
What I'm seeing is that Senator Obama cares about the welfare of man and McCain because he's part of the Republican Party, cares about the moral side, maybe. I really haven't heard him profess Christ as much as Senator Obama. It's just an observation. I haven’t heard anything about the social issues as well.
So, the justification that Charisma is giving is not enough for me. I believe that both men have many moderate views and we have to test their fruits.
So, from what I can see, Charisma had already endorsed McCain, they just needed a reason to make it legitimate. What I see is a lot of hypocrisy amongst Christians. I believe that when Jesus walked the earth, He taught us moral values and He taught us to be socially concerned. President Bush has had eight years to influence moral policy. While he has done some things, there are many things that he promised that he didn't do, but again, we have been tolerant. Now, people are suffering. The United States is suffering. We are neglecting third world countries. We’re telling people to give, give, give and but are we really making a difference?
I believe God is a just God and He sees the background deals that are going on. He sees how people are being mistreated. He sees how Blacks, Women, Latinos and other Nationalities are being discriminated against and kept out of decision-making roles. Non-Christians are seeing the hypocrisy and they are mocking God because of our actions. They don't even take us seriously anymore. We are watering down the message of Jesus Christ because of endorsements and actions. We are double-minded in our ways. God will let His will be done whether we like it or not. We need to watch what we sow, but the word of God says we will reap it.
While I'm not here to endorse or denounce either candidate, I am here to point out that there is not a righteous party. God can use a Republican or a Democrat as long as they are saved. Those issues that concern us on either side can be changed because God said He can turn the heart of a king. Let's be careful to hear from God and not protect our empires, 501(c) 3’s and our personal legacies. Let's make sure we hear from God. Let’s pass the wealth we’ve built from our tithes, offerings and business to help others. Let's not influence Christians with our own personal justifications, I urge you to seek God for yourself. If God says McCain after you've prayed, then vote for McCain. If God says Obama, after you've prayed then Obama. Let’s not discount the candidates because of one moral issue, race, gender, or age. God desires his word to preached throughout the world. Please keep this in mind as you pray. Who can God use to reach all people? Who can have the biggest influence in Christendom for God’s people and the unsaved people?
Let us not be fooled, many have much to lose depending on who is chosen for President. Take a personal look at this and see how it affects you and your world. Seek God and ask for His wisdom and guidance. My vote won’t be based on the endorsements or denouncements of the media. I'll seek God for myself, see if what the candidates say reflect the word of God and then I’ll Pray Before I Vote!

Perhaps Steve could clarify a few issues for me.
James Dobson and the godfathers of the evangelical movement, have always advocated that if a woman has the financial resources to stay home when her children are young, she should. In his books, "Straight Talk to Men and Their Wives" and "Bringing Up Boys" Dr Dobson declared that a woman should never elevate her ambitions above the welfare of her household. When the children are young, stay home. There will be time enough for a woman to conquer the world when the children are grown.
I agree with Dr Dobson on this, even if it seems old fashioned, sexist or whatever.
So how can conservatives INCLUDING JAMES DOBSON support a woman with young children, including a special needs infant, for the BUSIEST job in the world? This is the most staggering bit of hypocrisy I have seen in a long time.
Janet Parshall and other conservative pundits pummeled the Spears family when Jamie Lynn announced her pregnancy. This time, conservatives invoke grace, grace.
George Bush and conservatives promised to deliver us from the march of the homosexual movement, even as Dick Cheney's daughter and her lesbian partner make the a mockery of the institution of parenting. Check out what George Bush's response was.
Listen Strang, support who you want. That's the good thing about America, but this time around, there are a few Christians who will not allow the republican party to use us as pawns in their political game.
If for no other reason, I will vote for Barack Obama.

It is very clear there are many posts by the same Obama people on this board. Sadly, they are misled and misinformed about nearly everything they say. We only have two real choices: Obama or McCain, and we have an obligation as a citizen of our country to vote. A vote for anyone else is wasted, unless you only want to send a message. Neither candidates are perfect, but there is a HUGE gap between them. Start by reading the platforms of the two parties, and ask yourself which is more Biblical. The answer is very clear.
Obama has never led anything, never been tested, never been in a real leadership role, and is owned by the white leftist establishment in America and Europe. Folks: Look at where his money is coming from: Hollywood, Planned Parenthood, radical feminists, homosexuals, unions, and worst of all illegal foreigners, especially Saudis.
Calling McCain the same as Bush is like calling Lieberman the same as Gore.
Saying that Republicans do not care about the poor, or are racists, or are sexists, is simply Democratic spin. The fact is that the PRIMARY funders and doers of job creation, anti-poverty programs, global ministries to the poor and oppressed, are conservatives and they are Christians. They are not, for the most part, liberals or athiests, unless you consider the government to be liberals and athiests. EVERY study ever done shows that conservatives give more than liberals. So do not call Christians a two issue voting block. That is a lie that Jim Wallis and his heretic cronies are perpetrating.
Lastly, for those black folks who think this is a racial thing: BHO is not like you. He has lived a life of priviledge, as has his wife. He is not black like you. He is 50% Arab and 50% African for half of his genes, and he is white for the other half. And his white mother was 18 years old when she irresponsibly got pregnant by an irresponsible Muslim male who immediately left her. Then she irresponsibly married another Muslim male from Indonesia, dragging her little boy through a chaotic childhood before abandoning him to her parents in Missouri. The second Muslim husband left her too. So before you adopt this man as one of your own, you better look at his pedigree. The people who put him up from the very beginning are the wackos of Hollywood, the criminals of Chicago and the eugenicists behind Planned Parenthood who promote black genocide.
Believers: You may not like John McCain, but the more you look, the more you have to reject BHO.
www.theaudacityofhypocrisy.com
By the way, who wasted the most money on their campaigns and convention? Where is the Democratic compassion with all the millions that they are now taking from around the world?
Thanks Steve Strang, that unlike most pastors in this nation, you are caring more about your country than about your pocketbook.
God bless you! And may God transform all of our leaders, including Barack Obama and John McCain, into His likeness.

I do not have a TV and so I have been "out of the loop" in regards to actually hearing either candidate speak. Until, that is, I went to a friend's house on the night of the Saddleback debate.
I had no preconceived notions about either candidate but that debate certainly changed my mind. Although Obama was very eloquent HE NEVER ACTUALLY ANSWERED THE QUESTIONS! He walked around them and talked about change and did a wonderful job of not anwering a single one of them in a way that was thoughtful or showed any depth.
I thought McCain, on the other hand, answered in a straight forward manner and I understood him and his position clearly after he answered.
Yes, Obama is very charismatic (in a worldly sense) but what does he really stand for? What does he really believe? No one actually seems to know....other than the famous "change" word!
As to Palin, I just finished reading a book about her which was written in 2007. She seems highly intelligent and is battling both the gender ceiling and the good ole boys network. How can people fault her for her daughter's failings?
I have built my life and career around "multicultural" issues and am extremely tolerant of others.
But, I won't choose my president BECAUSE he is a so-called African American, just as I wouldn't vote for Hilary Clinton in the primaries just BECAUSE she's a woman. I heard someone say "what shall I do, vote for a black man or vote for a woman?" To me, this is faulty thinking. I choose to vote issues, I think voting for someone just because of their color is abominable!
The issues I choose to vote on include the abortion issue and gay marriage issue......but that doesn't mean that I am unthinking or a "republican" (which was said with such hatred). I do not vote by party, I vote by issues.
Perhaps less ranting and more thinking is in order here?

I read the posts and I think "these responses are supposedly from Christian People." Steve Strang is also a person not just a business; he can announce that they support John McCain, so what! He's taking a position and telling you why they endorse John McCain. Where is respect for one another? God is still bigger than any of our views and ultimately God is in control! Pray for who you support then! Don't bash someone else for their view. This sounds like a secular forum! All Christians should be praying for the election. At least be respectful. The church needs to be different than the world; non-christians need to be able to tell the difference between christians and them and reading a lot of the things on what is called christian forums wouldn't indicate that to me. This is not about race; this is sad to think that one thinks another hates because of race, does being a Christian mean anything? If you think that Steve Strang is this way then pray for him! This is sad and hurts the body of Christ!

I don't know who decided that because someone is a publisher or even a preacher, they lose their right as an American citizen to express their opinion. I don't hear that complaint when the Reverends Jesse Jackson or Al Sharpton endorse candidates or express a societal opinion. I wouldn't silence them even though I often disagree with them. That the Church should remain silent on all issues is the opinion of those who are confused about the intent of separation of church and state. I don't read in the Constitution that one loses ones citizenship when they become a pastor.
I don't vote for a political party - I vote the Bible. The Bible does not condone abortion, homosexuality, nor the statement that there are many roads to heaven. I am sure that is news to Jesus who came in the flesh, endured insults and hatred, and died a horrible death on the cross to save us.
Christians, get serious. One cannot possibly call themselves a child of God and place the war, race, or any social issue above what God instructs us in the Bible.

Dear Anonymous:
It's no surprise to anyone participating in this blog why you would choose to remain ... "anonymous".
Thanks for your opinion, but no thanks.
The last time I checked, Strang Communications was [is] a Christian organization, based on a Biblical worldview and a Pentecostal doctrine and theology.
If that persuasion does not "fit" with you, please feel free to choose from the plethora of other faith-based periodicals and media that are available ... now globally, thanks to the internet!
Mr. Strang, your willingness to accomodate the "Mr. & Ms. Anonymous" folks' opinions is noble indeed.
My vote is McCain-Palin ... for obvious reasons.

All I can say is WOW...after reading these comments how about REVERSE RACISM!!! Why McCAIN and Paulin?? 1)Against abortion- because we will answer to God as a nation NOT just as individuals. Many times in the Bible God judged NATIONS for individual decisions. Second, I do not live in America so that I can have a socialist country!I am APPALLED at the comments. To all those who say Obama is the right one because "hey I just feel it" - tell that to the millions of tiny lives you are writing off when you pull that lever- explain that one to GOD! To the ones saying we Christians need to also think about poverty, healthcare...etc...we (AMERICA) is the NUMBER ONE country for giving money away for poverty, for AIDS and wasn't it in that book- oh yea the Bible that said we the church body were to take care of the poor the widows the orphans. I cannot remember a single place where Jesus was telling Ceasar to do it! I am not a racist I would have voted for a black man- maybe even one who has character like Wellington Boone BUT I will not vote for a black man just because he is black or just because he is my party. Obama was mentored under a racist, he believes in abortion, he strongly supports and trusts Oprah (who I once really loved but she has gone the way of New Age), and he is a socialist in every sense of the word. Gimme a break people there is such a thing as reverse racism and MANY of you are voting for a black man simply because he is black and many are voting as a democrat simply because that is what your parents did. This is the saddest set of comments I have ever read!

It comes as a big disappointment to me that Charisma will openly endorse any one presidential candidate. From the very beginning it seemed like Charisma was looking for an opportunity to window dress and present John McCain but I held my breath hoping that a sense of Christian insight will prevail.
Why would you use a "Christian" magazine to propagate your personal political agenda? Is Charisma about the gospel of the Lord Jesus Christ or about the political preferences of the owner and his key staff?
This is a shocker to me and tells me that hypocrisy is still very much present in the Body of Christ.
Please don't abuse the influence or media reach that the Lord has given you. One day you will give an account to God of what you did with this tool He placed in your hands.

So you admit Obama's a Christian, and he's the one with one wife and still with his original family. McCain's the one who didn't fight for his own family - though we are to believe he'll fight for us? McCain walked out on his wife and three already born children. He committed multiple affairs before his 9 month affair with Cindy and took out a marriage license with her in Arizona before his divorce was final. Sorry, the family values line and man of integrity stuff doesn't ring true to me.
He passionately parades his veteran status and wants us to believe it is a big reason to vote for him but repeatedly votes against help for other veterans?
His first big decision is to select Palin? Serious doubts about judgment there.
I don't trust his morals, I don't trust his loyalties and I don't trust his judgment.

Beware, the Obama army of bloggers have polluted this site. Real Christians are not this ignorant. Take comfort in the fact that real Christians know better than to murder babies, espouse homosexuality, mock creationism, and they also realize that the the care for the poor and less fortunate among is soley the duty of the Church not the state. So once again beware, the Obama bloggers are well organized and they have taken over this website. I repeat these are not Christians. They are only trying to stir things us and discourage real Christians.

The reasons Strang chose to endorse McCain are no surprise at all. These are the same issues that have been touted for the past eight years -- but no action. Like some of my fellow bloggers I too am a little disappointed at how some of us on both sides have stated rather derogatory comments toward the other side. I have been and I am thrilled with this election process for the fresh new voices that have been part of this over the last year. Many Americans and Christians are passionately engaged and are finally foccussing on issues important to them. I looooved Huckabee (admired what he did as governor) and I also liked Ron Paul, Hillary Clinton and Barak Obama. I am now an Obama supporter, and like many of our fellow Obama supporters I am very much Pro Life. I happen to admire Governor Palin very much and have followed her career, and was thrilled to have her voice now in the election. However, I am listening to her speech now and I am disappointed by some of the blatant misstatements she is stating. While she too is charismatic, she is sounding less like herself and more like the last eight years. How can anyone talk about big goverment when Bush has blown it out to the moon! However, we have freedom of speech here in America so let her speak!
We should not be in the business of discrediting what people value if it does not line up exactly withour own. We can pull out our bibles and find numerous scriptures to declare what is an abomination or what is important to God. The sanctity of human life is one -- but why is abortion the only issue on this. What about our poor and destitute -- who have no voice in America either -- a fact that became shamefully clear to all the world with Katrina. The high infant mortality rates, and premature deaths of every kind of treatable disease that these men, women and children die of every hour here in America because of lack of access to healthcare. Education is another issue. We have basic human rights and our goverment should be about maintaining and providing those rights to ALL American citizens. Most Christians agree on being Pro-Life, that homosexuality is wrong, and that we need to feed the poor and the hungry. It's just that some us believe more strongly that one is more important than the other, but to God, it's all important.
However, government has unique job in ensuring that the bill of rights is for every citizen of this county. When basic human rights, and the bill of rights as well, are denied to some of our citizens then it is the government's job(and our job too) to deal with this issue. (Huckabee did this for the destitute in his state with tax relief -- someting he paid dearly for, but it was the right thing to do) These rights belong to everyone, rich, poor, Black, White, Asian, American Indian, Hispanic, gay, straight, man, woman, child, Christian, Jew, Muslim, Klansman. BTW, religious freedom is also a right protected under our constitution. Poverty and healthcare are not Socialist issues -- these are national issues.
Many, many Americans oppose the war in Iraq but were for the war in Afghanistan. Does this make them any less patriotic. If othe Americans focus more on domestic issues or perhaps how America treats or is engaged with the world internationally, does this also make them unpatriotic or less patriotic? No all of us love our country passionately and I beleive God gives us differences so we can't just focus on dealing with our favorite causes or campaigning against favorite abominations. The right of dissent is VERY American and very patriotic! We need to work togehter with all of it. We need to both conserve what is right and best and liberate the oppressed or change government when it's not working. Working on what these issues are are difficult.
In the end, many Christians are looking at this election, and on both sides can"t fathom how on Earth one can vote for Obama, and another McCain. I am an Obama supporter and some of my dearest friends are for John McCain. What we all understand is that we are first Christians, and that we are praying fervantly for all the candidates and this election and trust God that the right ones will be elected. Ultimately, the government, our America, is made up of its citizens, and it truly is up to us to hold our government accountable to the rights it declares for its people. In America, we have the freedom to choose. This is Obama's main stance, he wants to bring us all to the table to "reason together" to talk about the tough issues we face.

"Righteousness exalts a nation; but sin is a reproach to any people." I find it extremely disturbing that so many "Christians" support issues that are against the Word of God. We should not value our freedoms, race, or anything over the Word of God. The Bible says that we are ambassadors of Christ. An ambassador represents the kingdom and king who appointed and sent him/her. As Christians we ambassadors of God's Kingdom to represent his beliefs and policies in and to the world. I pray that on November 4 - our faith, not our fears or freedoms, will direct us. I pray for you all and for all christians who fail to stand up for righteousness.

I also will endorse John McCain. Obama is a misguided Christian. Any person that supports abortion or homosexual marriage is NOT a Christian. All you have to do is read the Bible to know it is wrong.

As a believer, I am conscientious about what I let into my eyegate. Over the last few years, I have declined continuation of your publication Charisma. What I believe was a once informative publication published by Christians to edify and encourage, has become more "worldly". As an American, I can appreciate your opinion, I just do not need to get an e-mail from you telling me who you support. The mix of politics and religion still do not mix. We do not have to be "religious" in our decisions. We do have to be as wise as a serpent, and as gentle as a dove. Four more years of the same Republican tactics and running this country into the ground are just not okay!

Let the Democrats against abortion stand up. I'm so tired of vocal republicans painting the picture as though if you are a democrat you are for abortion. George Bush had two terms in office, Rowe vs. Wade came and went more than once and the last time I checked its still in place. The battle against abortion will not be won in government. It will be won on our faces and in our homes. John McCain was asked what would he do if his daughter got pregnant out of wedlock...his answer "thats a private matter." His passion against abortion is lower than Obama's. Its just being approached from a different perspective. Don't let the smooth taste fool you. Meet this Democrat on the prayer wall and we can end abortion on our faces before the Lord. Not by squatting under a political umbrella.
Be Encouraged!!

Thank-you for the wisest choice possible in endorsing the most conservative candidates with the most integrity.
I do not say everyone is perfect on this earth. They cannot be,but we have a choice of the most and the least character and experience we are offered. John McCain and Sarah Palin have the most of both. I don't believe the dems with their little Ivy league puppet guy,Obama, have the requisite amount of character or experience. They don't help the poor in 'communities' ,they enable and thus control them. Ethnic christians need to vote Biblical standards not race. Obama cannot be a christian if he does not believe the Bible and Jesus who said: " I am the Way,the Truth, and the Life,no man comes to the Father but by Me."Jesus said there are not a bunch of ways to God,heaven, etc.
Anyway,we need to pray for the candidate who will protect The Lord's kingdom, will, and righteousness in the USA and the world at large. I believe McCain and Palin will be the best at that.

Well that was a predictable, traditional "conservative" point of view. But here's the thing...there are so many other more pressing matters facing this country other than abortion and who is sleeping with whom. The fight against segregation showed us that personal morality cannot be legislated, as we still bear the unresolved scars over fifty years later.
On the "sanctity of life": whenever "conservatives" figure out that "life" does not end at birth and begin to address issues of importance that represent a "culture of life" from womb to grave, then it will be more legitimate and more compelling.
Being "pro-life" means being concerned about Head Start and school lunch programs and equal access and resources for education for ALL children. Being "Pro-life" means opposing starting wars against countries that did NOT attack us and not sending our young people to die there. It means supporting Social Security and Medicare for our aged and Medicaid for our poor and, yes, what's happening in Darfur.
It's time to stop trotting out the same tired rhetoric every four years and actually seeking to make a difference for which the Lord would be proud (Matthew 25:31-46) and not just winning elections.

I am having difficulty believing that many of the respondents on this page are born again Christians. The judgmental accusations, racist remarks, and nasty rhetoric do not speak of the love of Christ in any way, shape, or form. If you know Christ, then your life and speech will reflect that knowledge.
I think that Steven Strang gave a very clear presentation of the reasons he is supporting McCain for president. Who are we to declare we know his "true thoughts" and motives? Only God knows the heart. We can disagree with him and every other McCain voter, but as Christians, we do not have the right to bash and judge one another.
It may come as a surprise to some non-Christians, but we who are born again followers of Christ really do take the Bible very seriously in our life-style choices and our choices of candidates for office... I do not make my decisions based on the economy, race, the war, energy, etc. I look at the core beliefs of the candidate and how those beliefs compare with Scripture.
I am prolife, against the practice of homosexuality, against same sex marriage, against one world government ,etc. I am for righteousness, holiness, godliness, morality, responsibility, hard work, respect, and all of the Scriptural tenants that were a part of the founding of this great nation.
I am voting for McCain. It is not because he is white or because he is perfect. He and Palin stand for most of the same things I stand for. I believe they are the best team to lead the country. If Hilary had won the nomination, I would not vote for her. Obama is further left than Hilary. I have no issue with a black president. I simply believe there are many other black leaders who would be a better choice for the job - because of their moral and conservative beliefs. I am referring to men such as Alan Keyes, and Clarence Thomas - both tremendous men of conservative viewpoints and positive moral persuasions. Had the Democrats put up such a candidate, there would be no problem with him being elected. So some of you out there can stop screaming "Racism" and start looking a little deeper into the real issues at stake here. This election cannot be reduced to the issue of race or sex. We don't vote for someone because they are black, white, male, or female. We vote for a person based on his character, core beliefs, and ability to lead this nation.
I especially appreciated the remarks from the Canadian lady who reminded us of the importance of our election - not just for the USA, but for the whole world. This is a critical time in our nation's history and the history of the world, and this election needs to be bathed in prayer by all of us.

I would like to address a couple of things. What Obama said about evil was biblically correct, not McCain. He said, we must confront evil, but only God can eradicate evil. Obama does not believe in same sex marriage, only in the dignity of one human being able to show love and support to another human being. He also said, what I've been saying for years, we need to find a way to prevent unwanted pregnancies. Youth in this country are sexually active between the hours of 3 and 6 o'clock when there is no parent at home and/or they are not involved in afterschool activities or programs. Men and boys espect sex from women without a committment to marriage, even in the church. Men and boys are still using the same old line they've used before, "It's ok, we're getting married." McCain did not expose his failures like Obama did at Saddleback. Obama is far more honest about his youth rebellion with drugs than McCain is about cheating on his first wife and leaving her, even for Cindy McCain. I don't know all the details, but I understand women are a weakness for him. Obama met and married his wife and so far has no cheating ways. I don't know enough about what Obama believes in terms of Christ being the only way, but he was very clear that Jesus is his way. He may just need to understand the bible better. Our president has to govern all the people and not just a select few. Like Obama has portrayed someone who has strong personal convictions, but understands he has to defend the rights of all. This is very difficult and not an easy task. It hurts me to think as a Christian I must be judged on the issue of abortion alone. I've fought for abstinence teaching in our school district with not much success because after-school programming is essential to its implimentation and this school district doesn't want to spend the money on busing the kids. They'd rather build a nursery at the High School. Well, I think McCain has proven himself not to be a maveric as much as rebellious. He didn't live up to what was expected of a student at the Naval Academy, his rebellious nature served him well as a POW, I'll give him that, he's been rebellious against his marriage vows, and his political party who did not want him to pick Palin in the first place. As human beings we are all flawed. McCain is flawed, Obama is flawed, Palin and Biden. But for my ticket I'd rather vote in two fammily men who are faithful to their wives and love their children than a man who doesn't know the meaning of being faithful in that respect. As far as Palin, I question the judgement of a woman who would put her family on the national stage when it is in crisis. I read a few years ago that some girls become sexually active to spite their mothers, because they resent them. We don't know this to be true with Bristol, but it does beg the question, where was Mom? And was Mom enough if she needed to be intimate with a man for love and attention? How much has Palin needed or required her daughters to pick up the slack for her at home? I'd feel much more secure having a president or vise president who is woman who has raised her children and can be on call for the safety of this country. I would hate to think of her being torn between international and local affairs or being there for her children. It is highly ambitious and maybe without much real thorough thought on her part. A man is not a mother, nor a woman a father, but here are times when only a mother will do. Surely, she must know this, but so far her stint as mayor and governor have not be disruptive to her lifestyle. I think she will have a rude awakening in Washington, should she make it. I pray for this country regardless and until I walk in that booth I don't know who I'm going to vote for, but here and now...this day...I just can't vote for a McCain and Palin ticket.

how any christian with any depth at all could vote for anyone who would continue to keep abortions legal is way beyond any thing imaginable. For the one who commented on not wanting eight more years of the same you may need to look more into how our government is run. The Congress does most of our spending, law making and big decisions so why do we want to blame Bush or McCain for that maybe you ought to check out how your senators and congressmen voted and for what. Betcha find out that most Democrates voted for the things that have gotten our country in the shape it is in. So to vote for McCain is not a vote for more of the same to vote for the people in office now would be more of the same. Should Obama be elected simple because he is a black man shame on those who would vote for him for that reason. TD Jakes it is not a great day in american history when Obama is the black person who becomes a national leader. Mavbe it would be a great day if you Mr. Jakes were elected as a black representative but sir not Obama. I think people especially in this election need to research and become more responsible for what the issues are more than the color of a man's skin or the gender.

The scripture makes it clear that the leader of a country is a "gate-keeper" in that their words and actions usher in an atmosphere of good or evil into the "gates" of country of rule. David, Ahab, Hezekiah are examples.
Clinton ushered in a new realm of promiscuity among teens with his actions.
What would Obama usher in? Legalizing homosexual marraige, allowing freedom of abortion in stages of pregnancy, and appointing judges that would allow the same. Hello Believers!!! What kind of impact would that have on America?

Christians, please unite! we are supposed to have unity inthe church. Plewase "stand the gap" as we are commanded to do and be the "watchman" for America that we are supposed to be. America is the country it is becuase we are currently "One country under God". If Obama is elected president we will no longer be under Gods covering. I can feel it in my spirit. Obama will continue to remove God from our country and government - the very reason we are where we are today! Rememeber to consider the example each candidate has lead by. McCain has served this country with his life and limb in jeopardy since he was 17! We are to be Christlike and serve others. I cant think of a better example of Christs love that the life of service Mccain has lead! We are need to vote our hearts and if you heart is truly for Jesus, than how could you vote for anything that is unbiblical? Killing babies is not biblical, marriage as anything but a husband and wife is not biblical. Dont twist Gods Word! There are eternal consequences to the choices you make on election day! Please pray and allow God to speak to your heart! Get on your kness in a true time of prayer and fasting. "Stand the gap" for America. AS Americans, if we dont keep ourselves under godly influences, I fear the repercussions.

Having read Charisma's email endorsing Sen. McCain and the many blog comments, I am deeply saddened and ask God to help us (the body of Christ). It is abundantly clear that much division and hypocrisy exist within what we call "Christianity." I am a follower of Jesus Christ and I don't endorse abortion or homosexuality. However, these are not the only two issues that determine one's suitability for President. Both candidates have strengths as well as flaws and I am disappointed that Mr. Strang's comments were one-sided, slanted in favor of the candidate he prefers. Why not report all the issues and facts?
Also, I'm curious why there was no mention or statement about Mr. McCain's rejection of endorsements from men of God (Pastors John Hagee and Rod Parsley) yet he sought counsel from Dalai Lama-a pagan god??? Also, I've not heard him state his faith or commitment to Jesus Christ.
We must trust God, pray and seek His guidance because He is in control. Did he not choose David, despite his youth, inexperience and imperfections?
In 2 Chron 7:14, God gives us the assurance that He will forgive our sin and heal the land if we the people of God will humble ourselves, pray, turn from our wicked ways and seek His face.
May God unite His people, heal our nation and may we honor Him for the blessings that we have. Barbara

I am simply amazed at all the so-called Christians who believe they have no obligation to think God's way or do things (decision making) according to biblical principles. Any Christian who actually has taken the time to cultivate a personal relationship with the Lord and allow Him to actually BE their Lord would never think of voting for Obama. He is the truest form of a demonic imitation as satan can contrive. It is obvious, especially re: Black Christians that they are looking solely at color/race(walking according to the flesh) and not the Spirit. It is afterall those that are LED by the Spirit of God that are the Sons of God. There are soooooooooo many Christians who will be left behind by the Rapture only because Jesus will have to say to them "I NEVER KNEW YOU" Wake Up Brothers/Sisters, satan is a deceiver. That is who he is and you are letting yourselves be squarely deceived and thus defeated by your choices and the "right to choose" doctrine of the world. As a Christian you are citizens of the Kingdom of God and there you do not get to choose anything except life and death, blessing and cursing, and then He even told you "CHOOSE LIFE".(HIS WAY) Obama is Not Life. He is death and he is cursing; an eloquent speaker, but one who has less executive (decision-making)experience than the average 1st grade teacher. Just because he is Black is NO GODLY reason to vote for him. Oh, by the way I am a Black woman who would love to see a black President, but he would have to conform to the principles of God and NOT South side Chicago's dirty dirty politics.

After reading these comments I realize that our country is in great trouble, and so is the church of Jesus Christ in America.
It is obvious that Christians are not reading God's Word or praying for wisdom in selecting our leaders. We need to humble ourselves and pray that God will heal our souls first and then heal our land. May God have mercy on us!

I have to say for the last 3 elections I am so grieved over the fact that the Christian community becomes so indignate that the only person right for the job of US President is a Republican. Okay, the Republican party at least "says" they are pro-life, but what difference has that really made. While President Bush, Sr. was in office, Mrs. Bush was Pro-Choice. President G. W. Bush (Republican) has been in office for 8 years and abortion is still as strong as it ever was if not stronger. They also at least "say" they are Pro-Family and against Same Sex Marriages; however, with a Republican in office for 8 years we now have in this "Christian Country" Gay marriages in the state of California (which by the way is Governed by a Republican.)My point is we are no closer to ending abortion and now more states are going to pass the Gay Marriage Bills in their states, all under a Republican Leadership.
There are many Men & women of God, me included, who are Democrats and oppose abortion, same sex marriages, etc....but choose the party because they beleive in and care about people from all walks of life.
I am a Democrat. I was raised in a family of Democrats but "converted" to the Republican Party 20+ years ago when I got saved because it was "almost part of the New Birth Class I attended, all the Christian teachers/preachers on the TV & Radio all reinforced that. It was almost drilled in the minds of Christians in that day (has gotten worse today)that in order to be a good Christian you must be Republican. When I came to know the Lord I just was so grateful that He saved me from the grips of Hell naturally I wanted to be a good Christian, so I joined the "Righteous Holy Republican Party" Of course, I first repented for being an "Evil Liberal Democrat" and became a "Saved Sanctified Republican" because "that would please God and stop the curse in the land."
Of course, I have grown some in the Lord, I learned how to read the Bible for myself, I learned how to pray and hear God for myself too. Being a Righteous Christian is not equal to being a Republican nor Democrat.
I am a Democrat that is 100%absolutely opposed to abortion, it almost took my oldest son 30 years ago when I was just a teen ager, but it wasn't because of the Republican party that I my son is alive and well, it was because God had a plan that no man could stop. Abortion is an abomination to God and innocent bloodshed is the only bloodshed that defiles a land, but if it weren't for the Democrats who fought tooth and nail to keep Government funded programs like the school for school aged mothers I attended, I may not have had the opportunity to finished school and my son and I could have been just another statistic in the land.
I have heard for years the Republicans saying they are against abortion, but when the girl or woman keeps their babies, they (Republicans) don't want to do anything to help the girls, and women who choose to have their babies. Instead they stop gov't funding for programs that will help these women get ahead in life. They say "don't kill your unborn" but they refuse to help these ladies when the babies are born. So unfortunately, many of the babies grow-up in hostile impoverished enviroments and then their blood is shed in the streets. And that is blood I wouldn't want on my hands. There is no greater loss then the loss of a child.....I think about the pain that the mother feels when she gets the call that her 14, 15, or 16 year old was gunned down by gangs or died of a drug over dose(just trying to stop the pain of life)...I often wonder if that mother ever despises the day she didn't go through with the abortion because the pain of losing her child after years of loving him or her.
I have had opportunities to advance and actually get to live the "American Dream" today not because of anything the the "Righteous Holy Anti-abortion, anti-same-sex marriages, etc Republicans" ever did, but first of all because of a Loving and Gracious God who saved, healed and delivered me from the clutches of Hell and secondly, from a governmental perspective, it was because of Democratic Leaders who put funded programs that allowed me opportunity for advancement.
I am a 47 year old Latina who had a child in my teen years and was given opportunity via programs funded by gov't. I am a college graduate, I married an awesome Latino man of God, who is also college educated, and our Latino sons are awesome young men of God who are also college educated. I am proud of my family and I am proud to be an American of Mexican descent.
I am a business owner whose company is going strong and prospering well. My point is this, my family is alive and well today, from a politcal party point of view, not because of anything the Republican Party has done for us, but for what the Democratic Party has done. I am grateful to God that my Salvation is not hinged on which Political party I associate myself with, as a large population of the church would have us to believe. I love being an American but I love being a citizen of a much higher kingdom, a citizen of the Kingdom Of God.
The way I see it, Politically, if I have to pay taxes to pay for some funding that will give other Americans the the same opportunity I had, then I am being a blessing to my fellow Americans and Spiritually speaking, then I am doing with my prosperity what God intended me to do with it, which is "to be blessed to be a blessing."
Yes you guessed it in Nov 2008, as a Christian Woman of God, I am voting for Obama.

Friends,
This is why we need to vote for McCain-Palin and to pray for this important election. This video will show you where Gov Sarah's heart is...it's for Jesus! and for Revival!
http://link.brightcove.com/services/player/bcpid1766638341
This other video will show God's prophetic word to Julie Meyer about the Palin candidacy. This was uploaded onto YouTube in May 2008, months before the candidacy of Sarah Palin was announced!

After you see these videos, I urgently appeal to you to vote in this election and to encourage those in your sphere to vote too. And, please don't forget to pray for McCain-Palin's victory and America's future.

After reading your email, and the comments, I would like to make a point. Freedom to think, express, and choose is not absolute. If USA is in a mess today, it is because of the misuse of freedom of speech and choice. I don’t mean to say it is the only reason. I am not a US citizen, but I would urge the people of USA not to think with their head alone, use their heart also.

Steve, great article and truth about McCain!!! It doesn't even sound right" Barack Husein Obama - the president of the USA:) Never!
It's time for black people to choose between God's principles (stay against homosexuality, abortion etc.) or vote for Obama just because he is black. I am sure many christian believer who are colored will vote for Obama because he is colored, even if his views are absolutelly opposite to Christian study. People are lying to theirselves about their belief and about God, as his principles stands firm and never changes, it's not democracy where you can change and use the words as you like it to protect abortions homosexuals and other perverts

This Christian mother supports Barack Obama. And not only that: for the first time in my life (I'm almost 40), I'm actually involved as a volunteer in a political campaign -- Obama's. Phone banking, registering voters, canvassing in my town. Obama bumper stickers and yard signs outnumber McCain's by 100 to 1 in my town -- and I live in Virginia! McCain tries to instill fear, he's so negative, just stands for same old GOP economic policies. Whatever happened to helping the poor? GOP policies--mortgage meltdown, do-nothingism on health care -- are making more Americans poor. You can't tell me that the GOP is "more Christian" -- Bush led us into a war under false pretenses. I don't like how the GOP has tried to co-opt and exclusivize that "Christian" label. Obama looks ahead with hope and offers solutions.

Obama wants to socialize America. He thinks government is God and can solve all our problems.
I believe in individual accountability. Like Jesus said, "Each man shall give an account of himself" (see the parable of the talents).
I give voluntarily, not under coercion. If you increase the tax burden on the "rich", that penalizes hard work, ingenuity, and growth. If you give added benefits to the "poor", that rewards laziness, bitterness, and apathy.
McCain is for individual accountability, Obama is for equality regardless of achievement. THAT is contrary to Christ's teaching of hard work, faith, and personal responsibility.
Even if you don't believe Jesus's command to work hard, how are you going to get a raise if your boss is penalized for company earnings?
If you want to see our economy crumble, then penalize those who are leading the way to prosperity through ingenuity, gumption, industriousness, salesmanship, a positive self-awareness, and leadership by increasing their taxes and stifling their growth.
For every successful entrepreneur, there's a whole tribe of followers who benefit from his success. Nations are formed from successful people who lead the way to productivity and prosperity.
So many people are afraid to pursue their dreams that they become bitter and envious of the few who have the courage and fortitude to achieve success. Their only selfish recourse is to put their support behind a candidate who will over-tax the very ones who should be rewarded. Like Jesus said, "He who has will be given more, he who does not have, even what he has will be taken from him." That's Jesus's words, not mine.
Support America, support growth, support industriousness, support entrepreneurship, support John McCain for President.

I'm amazed at the comments I've read, some good, some not based on facts, or proper investigation of facts. I'd like to suggest something. Why not look at the candidates based on their previous accomplishments whatever they might be, and how they stand up when you look at what God has said in scripture. That alone will make the choice obvious. It isn't about color, it's about who is promoting a government and ideals that can stand alongside the bible's truths. That immediately eliminates abortion and same sex marriage, if you believe what God has said in the bible. He hasn't changed His mind, and we shouldn't either. As for helping the poor, every administration since Roosevelt has promoted more and more spending on behalf of the poor, elderly, and our costs for Medicare, Welfare costs, and even helping the poor in other nations has increased in every administration. So how can we say that our nation is inconsiderate of the poor, when spending in that area has continually increased under EVERY administration, and is still increasing. As for problems in this administration...remember that we have had a Democratic majority in this last administration...and these boys and girls are the ones making the decisions for our nation.
Also, another thing to consider when Senator Obama says he wants change, and will promote change -- my question is will that change occur with the same Democratic majority that we've had the last 4 years? It didn't while they were in charge...and that you can't blame on President Bush.
As Christians it is important for us to not just listen to the media. If you aren't actually investigating the last four years to see what has happened in our Democratic majority senate and congress, then you aren't going to have the real picture of where the problems lie.
McCain may not be the best choice for President, as far as previous candidates who ran and then dropped out...but he is what we have to choose from if we want to work toward turning the abortion situation around, and keeping marriage between a man and a woman. As for the poor, they are being cared for more and more every year, our government is spending more money on the poor and needy, and health care every year. It will continue, as it always has...because we do care about the poor, and it is not a republican or democratic issue, it's one of those issues that has always been dealt with with great consideration. As a nation, we do more for our people and people in other nations than any other country. I think it is important not to make our nation's people totally dependent on government though. We need men and women who want to and will work for themselves, and dependence on government is the next thing before you end up being a slave to that government. Think about it....
I'm praying that Americans as a whole will become more aware of the truth of the Word as much as the truth of each candidate, that we will all seek God honestly, and be willing to change our direction if God speaks to us about it. You will never find a completely perfect candidate, but we have to do what is right before God, and as someone said, we will answer for the choices we make. If we endorse someone who is promoting unrighteousness, then we will also be responsible for that action, because we shared in it by our support. Be wise, and pray, fast, ask God for direction....and pray for both candidates....Only God can restore America to righteousness and justice....May it happen soon.
God bless America....and all its citizens...

God gives us the right to choose and privilege to vote for John McCain & Sarah Palin because of what they stand for. McCain a real American hero and Palin, not looking to rub shoulders with the elite from Washington. Mr. Strang, thank you for endorsing McCain. You are a man of honor sharing His word and testimonies for many to draw to Christ and others to be motivated to continue to serve the Living God. America has given Obama an opportunity to shine but I have heard him with my own ears of how he sways to whatever group he is standing before to please their ears. I believe in my heart he is simply deceiving many and being pushed into a position by forces that are contrary to God's word. I'm an American w/African roots and believe God permits certain people into key positions so that His Name may be glorified. Our trust is and always will be in God. I pray McCain wins because he has a proven record of serving this country who endured mental-physical torture. The person who mentioned his divorce seems to forget that though McCain regrets it ever happened, Jesus died for our sins and they are covered by His blood and God sees His Son in us when we come before His throne of Grace. Obama only left the apron of Rev.J. Wright due to the pressure of those who were not in agreement with his ideology. Christians voting for Obama are not seeing the truth. Please vote righteously by seeking the will of God. In heaven there is no religion nor political party, but we must do the best with what we have in America. God bless America!

"As Marc Nuttle says in his book Moment of Truth, the Democrats would take us down a dark path toward big government. Such a government would limit our freedoms and increase oppressive control. Picture France and Germany—and then contrast this image with that of the America McCain would lead."
France and Germany aren't really doing as bad. Did you check the exchange rate of the Dollar against the Euro lately? Also, did you check how much medication costs in Germany and France as opposed to the US? I'd love if you could explain a bit more what's so bad about those two countries as opposed to the US. Last time I checked, the two didn't start an invasion into another country either.

George,
Man, you hit the nail on the head. I have never heard so many comments and reactions to a presidential candidate that made him look so like the antichrist...and that is not exaggeration. He talks like he is the all in all answer to the world...and that bothers me. He is acting like he is "the savior".... It's enough to make me go on a prayer and fast!
But thanks George for saying he's Marxist...When government controls everything...including how you get your health care, how you get your food, you are in a communist country, it's no longer democratic.... WE need to wake up as a nation, and as Christians as well, and we need to pray!!

I have a lot of common values with republicans rather than democrats evenif I believe the republicans has made a lot of damage to this country both economically & socially. Republicans are more corrupt & infavor of high incomes than the low income majority. Republicans are more racists (History proves that). Therefore I have decided to leave it to God to choose between the two evils.

Hello Steve, thanks for your faithfulness to continue to provide your honest opionions and views inspite of the persecution by so called christians, fellow sisters and brothers in the Lord. Thanks for this article, it is truly an eye opener.... I too have decided to vote for McCain, primarily because of Palin. I've always been a republican who stands for conservatism, morality, family values, righteousness, truth, our country and God. I can see that quite a few of your readers are still blinded by the Obamanation whose views are skewed and misdirected. Black people its time for you to wake up and smell the coffee, I know you desperately need to see a black man running for office but don't get caught up in the color of his skin. He is not the right black man for this job, at least not now, he lacks character and intergrity plus he never stands with any decision he makes for too long...he way too left, the most liberal and a major flip flopper. To be honest with you he is just a pawn in the democrats party....I have been praying for God to remove the veil from our brothers and sisters eyes. So blinded by deception that even if God whispered to you that Obama does not stand for righteous Christlike values, you would dismiss it as something else...vote according to your own moral conviction. Abortion, homosexuality, lies, cheating, etc is an Obamanation in the eyes of God and thats exactly what Obama stands for yet black christians all around America including black leaders like TD Jakes and other leaders as himself are chasing after this devils advocate. Wake up black people, use your God given spiritual discernment. Take your eyes off skin color and test the spirit, these are signs of the times. Barack is black but its only skin deep. You are so desperate to see a black man in office even if Jesse Jackson,
Al Sharpton or Rev Wright was running for office you would vote for them just because they are black...so sad knowing full well that these men are in no way qualified to lead anything much less run a country. Barack may be eloquent in his speaking but he lacks character. We have the responsibility to place righteous men and women in office.... Obama despises Israel, he wants to appease the terrorist and the enemy by conducting friendly conversation with them knowing full well these other nations hate Israel and the Lord prophecied in His word to us that He would bless those who blesses Israel and He would curse those who fight against Israel. So you choose. In the beginning I was not too fond of the idea of voting for McCain but I took my concern to the Lord and He said vote for the lesser of two evils....now Palin on ticket gives me more comfort in knowing I'm voting for the right man. God bless each of you and may God bles America.

I LIVE IN ISRAEL AND CAN'T VOTE BUT FOR THOSE WHO HAS KEPT YET THE MANLY CHARACTER -STAND ALWAYS FOR THOSE WHO ARE READY TO FIGHT EVIL.FOR THOSE WHO CARE AND STILL WANT RIGHT FOR THE COUNTRY. I WANT TO TELL ALL THOSE WHO SAY "WE HAVE A FREE CHOICE" "LET THEM CHOOSE" AND SO ON.ONCE IN THE GARDEN OF EDEN A MAN HAS DONE HIS CHOICE AND LOOKE WHAT WE HAVE NOW."ANONYMOUS CHRISTIANS" GET ALIFE! I TELL YOU IF YOU DON'T FIGTH EVIL IN YOUR COUNTRY IN THE NEAREST FUTURE YOUR CHILDREN WILL WAKE UP AT 5 AM EVERY MORNING AND SING "ALLAH AKBAR" IN THE NEXT TO THEIR HOME MUSK.SOME CHRISTIANS HAS REALLY FORGOT THAT WE ARE CALLED TO BE THE LIGHT OF THE WORLD AND MUST NOT COMPROMISE WITH THE PRINCIPLES OF DARKNESS. I MYSELF WOULD VOTE FOR MAcCAIN ONLY BECAUSE OF THAT FACT THAT HE IS GOING TO FIGHT WORLD TERRORISM=ISLAM=DARKNESS.ONE OF THE BIGGEST ENEMIES OF THE "ANONYMOUS CHRISTIANS" IS AN UNCOMFORTABLE LIFE AND ON THE CONTRARY ONE OF THE BIGGEST ENEMIES OF THE NORMAL CHRISTIAN IS A COMFORTABLE LIFE. PEOPLE SAY OH... WHY SHOULD WE DO THAT LEAVE THEM ALONE IF THEY WANT HOMOSEXUAL RELATIONSHIP -LET THEM HAVE ,IF THEY WANT ABORTION- LET THEM HAVE.BY THAT SUCH PEOPLE ALLOW EVIL TO ENTER OUR SOCIETY.REMEMBER THE OLD TESTAMENT! GOD TOLD PEOPLE TO STONE EVERY EVIL THING AND TAKE EVIL OUT OF SOCIETY. GOD ALWAYS INCOURAGED HIS PEOPLE TO BE ACTIVE AGAINST EVIL AND TO THINK NOT ONLY ABOUT THEIR PERSONAL INTERESTS.21For everyone looks out for his own interests, not those of Jesus Christ. OK MAY GOD BLESS YOU TO TAKE RIGHT DECISIONS IN YOUR LIFE.

I am happy that Charisma has endorsed The McCain-Palin ticket. Your endorsement might sway some voters who vote 'democrat'no matter who is running or what kind of character they display. I believe it is time for Christians to vote for candidtates who demonstrate Biblical character by the choices they make.
I read some of the above comments which serve to verify their rebellion against God's law and a need to ease their own conscience.
Abortion is murder. It is not freedom of choice. Homosexuality is a sin. It is not just a lifestyle. I serve God in a Deliverance Ministry and continually see the pain and bondage brought about through both abortion and homosexuallity. God extends mercy to anyone who repents and can set them free. I believe though that God will do everything possible to open the blinded eyes of Christians and others, to the danger involved in voting for Obama.
Dutch Sheets gave a recent prophetic word declaring the "Suddenlies" of God that will occur, beginning in September. I believe one of those "suddenlies" happened tonight when Sarah Palin gave her speech at the RNC. By her words and actions she made a sudden impact upon thousands of voters who were uncommitted.

I am shocked by the supposed "christians" who are posting here in support of Obama!! I would love to see us finally break the racial barrier in the white house. But, how can I, as a follower of Christ, vote for a man who supports the murder of unborn children? He even voted in favor of partial birth abortion! The future of this nation hinges on this one main issue - "righteousness exalts a nation, but sin is a disgrace to any people." Prov 14:34. Our Christian faith in this nation has become so watered down that we cannot see past the color of skin and promises of health care and the economy and take a stand against the evils of abortion. Even if that means voting against our political party. Don't tell me that a woman should have a choice whether to kill her own child. It's considered murder if the child is killed one second after birth. It is still murder if that same child is killed inside the womb. Wake up Christians and vote for the sanctity of life. God is watching. The future of our nation hangs in the balance.

I'm not sure how different the views of Bill Clinton are from that of Barak Obama on issues of abortion and sexual orientation; yet American Christians voted for him. And he produced one of the best results of governance in the history of the United States.
I'm familiar with the acrimony that colors doctrinal discourse among christians, and I'm not surprised that it is showing in our politics.
I know that even if the race for the US prsidency were between two members of the Asseblies Of God, folks will find a reason to prefer one to the other.
While, Steve pretends not to be bothered by the issues of color and race, yet I didn't read any negative comment in his article against Joe Biden! or is he a Perfect White Democrat? All I read are good things about McCain and Palin; and bad things about Barak Obama!
I know it takes a while to get over a superiority complex. Didn't folks perpetuate slavery with biblical references? didn't the Boars perpetuate arpatheid in South Africa with Biblical references?
We must resist the temptation to subtly assist the devil in perpetuating a white supremacist agenda using biblical references.
Let's support Barak Obama for US president.

I am a Christian living in Africa and I am often amazed at the Politisised American Christianity. Please do not misunderstand me I clearly beleive that Christians should support governance and perform civic role but I am often confused by the American approach of politisising Christianity. It is obvious from some of the posts here that what is really motivating comments is not really the personality of the candidates or what they stand for but the political camp the writers belong to and what we consider safe. I do respect Strang and his view but I beleive respected men of God should not go around endorsing candidates but praying and urging others to pray that God's will be done. If the post had been a call for prayers that the will of God be done, or a definate statement that God has revealed John McCain as his choice for now I would have been impresssed but engaging in political comparisom and analysis as the world will do begins to beg our Christian faith and believe. I beleive rather than fueling the bipartisanship all American Christians, pro Obama and pro McCain should be joining hands to pray God's will to be. Please remember that Saul (the first King in Isreal) looked right but failed to be a good king. Let us not fall into the error of Samuel when he was sent to Jesse's house to annoint a new king, let us not look at the outward but ask that God reveal the inward to us. I am interested in the right choice for America (whether Obama or McCain) because what happens in America affects the whole world including me. Naturally been a black person I should have supported Obama, but before God we are all one as Christians and we should be asking his will now.

I am very much disappointed Steve Strang. You are not God, you can not choose a leader. Why dont you ask christian to pray and ask God for who is the right leader. Have you forgotten the case of Samuel,God rejected someone because God does not look at physical features. I have always respected you and I think I will never read any article you write. I think there is more to that than can meet the eye. I pray you will not meet God's wrath for misleading Americans.

I respect everyone's opinion. What I don't understand is how everyone is quick to point to a specific party - Democrat or Republican, blame the Republican president and not look at the Senate or House majority-both Democratic run. Laws had to be passed through them first before going to the Republican president. When it was Democrat and Republican during the first 4 Bush years, things were not this bad. Now that it is Democrat and Democrat, we are barely keeping our houses and jobs due to the high cost of living.

I must say however, that I am a bit disappointed that such skewed political views as these would be shared in this magazine. I thought the magazine was set up to propagate and advance the principles of the Kingdom of God and not the kingdom of man.
It will be more appreciated if you can just present a fair analysis of both candidates and allow the people of God to follow the Holy Spirit and their conscience.
Please let us stick with Kingdom Principles and not peddle Human Principles. Thank you.

Please, please remember. These issues are important, but George Bush also supports them. That means, they may not be the best basis on which to decide who will be President. Second, when the question of experience arises, remember the amount of experience George Bush and Dick Cheney had before they took office. Neither experience nor being pro-life and anti-gay marriage has prevented the Iraq war, Guantanamo Bay, Abu Gharaib, illegal wire-tapping, manufactured "news" reports (you forgot about that, right?) and violations of habeus corpus. Also remember that the Military Commissions Act includes you and every American as someone who can be held indefinitely until they determine whether or not you are an enemy combatant. Finally, as an American living in Germany, I must confess I have no idea what you are referring to when you make your comment about Germany.

I hope you and John Mccain are not like Ted Haggard that was opposing homosexualism with his mouth but craving it with heart and act. I am not a homosexual and not a supporter of abortion, but I think the best way to stop wrong is through education. The reason why more people still like homosexual acts and other evils is because we ( I mean everyone of us)are not teaching the way we ought to teach. God gave a free will to us but he taught us through prophets, his son Jesus Christ, and now his Holy Spirit that lives within us. We have a lot of work to do than choosing or suggesting to people who to vote for. Educate them and they will make their choice. Everyone should learn from his mistake-what you did was wrong!I have always admired Charisma. And let me advice you like a privileged minister of God. Dont publish again what you did or what you are planning to do. Everyone can sense the hate in your heart for Barak Obama. Search your heart my brother, you will have to answer to God one day. Do more prayer and be opened to the Holy Spirit. God Bless you.

We support John McCain and are very pleased with his choice of a running mate. We are very proud supporters. The people that say Palin has had little experience need to look at the what experience Obama has had running or governing a city, state much less a country!

Steve,
Focus your discernment instead on the content of your magazine and some of the false teachers and preachers you continually feature and therefore seem to endorse. Know this, you can make all the right sounds, but because of the love of money and fear of man, still effectively support evil, whether you are a Republican or Democrat president. God is in control and will put in place whom He pleases. Leave people to make a free choice and concentrate on true evangelism, i.e., let people know we ALL need a Savior and there is only one Savior. His name is Jesus. When you worship Him in spirit and in truth and are led by Him, you will make the right choice at the polls and practice politics of love and not the institutionalized Republican world view that is sold to people as the only God-sanctioned way. Blessings.

Let everyone make his/her informed decision based on what is talked by both coz we Know even Mc cain has his own major flows and its true as Obama said christianity is not the only way to heaven, Jesus christ is the only way to heaven, so preach for people to vote wisely and please dont endorse one or the other rather pray for God's will to be done. Be blessed. By the way your articles are being read by viewers who support both Mc cain and Obama do you want to alianate those who support Obama? Let us be wise in this situation.

Abe Lincoln was a republican and white. What was it he did against slavery? Refresh my memory. U.S. Grant and the North did what against slavery? Condoleeza Rice is republican. What color is she? J.C. Watts from Oklahoma is a republican. What color is he?The Supreme Court justice,Clarence Thomas is republican. What color is he?ad infinitum.Wasn't LBJ a white guy? A Dem for sure, but a white guy. What as president did he push through to begin to halt racism? So repubs and whites,[i prefer pink as my color]are racist?Repubs can't be people of hue and color? History and truth will not support that kind of bigoted thinking. I am pink and freckled,my husband a partial native american is olive tannish, my daughter's boyfriend is half Indonesian, olive tannish, one of my best friends is Chinese a pretty tan color. My Sunday School class is almost all true African, many shades of darktan to light tan to almost black. I am a republican and pink. Am I racist?I think not.
I live in the mideast. The Arabs are a beautiful reddish tan. The indians are all different colors and shades. They are all pretty I think.I like them. Am I racist? I think not.
How insulting, ignorant and prejudiced to say we republicans and pinkies are racist. I think not.
I am born again, water baptized, filled with the Holy Spirit, blood bought and washed,a Bible believing Christian with a freewill and a sovereign God,Jesus Christ,Father, and Holy Spirit.
America has not taken oil from Iraq.We are in debt because we will not take their oil. I hear this propaganda on anti-american,anti-israeli Al-Jazeera and BBC all the time. No political party is the answer for this world's problems. True that. We have to do the best with what we have.Barack is not the best, neither is McCain, but issues win out. At least Repubs are heading toward trying to stop abortion and curtailing immorality in having special rights. The bottom line is who will protect christian freedoms and rights here and abroad? Isn't Barack wanting to penalize preachers and churches for saying the Truth in the Bible about homosexuality? Is he protecting us or people who practice abomination? Is he penalizing us for our choice to believe what we want and have free speech to say it? I think so. Hmmm, communist China,Russia,North Korea,Iran,Hello?
As far as soldiers doing the job they signed up for;wielding the sword is what they get paid to do! Penalizing the evil ones such as terrorists in the Mid-East and at home is their job.George Bush at the request of the Iraqis' has the military in Iraq. There is nothing illegal about that. The Kurds and Iraqi govt in exile against the murderous psychopath,Sadam, begged George Bush to take Sadam out.Nothing illegal about that.It would be immoral if the USA had not gone in to Iraq or left the Iraqis suddenly and without training and support. The soldiers know the cost they might pay when they take the job of wielding a weapon. It's in the job description and they can decline the job at any time.Little babies did not sign up to get killed in the millions[almost 10x more than the jews killed in Germany]They did not get to grow up and make a choice, did they? Issues are the point. We just hope who we elect is on the side of the Iraqi people or any cruelly oppressed people who beg the USA to help them.We hope our elected officials will protect the USA from terrorism in the countries fomenting that terrorism and at home.We hope our elected officials will protect little babies and let them grow up to make their own choices. We hope our officials will protect the right of christians to preach the Word without being jailed or fined or killed as they are in many non free mideast countries and communist countries.I think the closest to best choice would be McCain/Pallin,but at the end of the day they are all just politicians so my trust must primarily be in the Lord who made heaven and earth.I am anon because I don't want the crazies in my email.Just smart I think, wise as a serpent. Love you all. Really!

Good Morning!
I posted last night after receiving Steve's email. I've had time to read thru other folks responses and, with an open mind have been able to see both sides. I still haven't decided WHO I will vote for. But as I move thru the process I have to remember that no one is perfect, nor will any candidate perfectly align with my views or my faith. But, after reading these I have an equal list of pros and cons for both candidates. I guess the question remains - what ARE you doing to stop abortion, spread the word, etc. I am really so tired of the whole abortion issue. We had a couple in our church where we lived once who would take in pregnant girls they met at abortion clinics and let them live with them and helped them either give their child up for adoption, or foster responsibility in BOTH parents. These are the types of actions that will "reverse" Roe vs Wade, not legislation. To be honest, neither candidate would get my vote if I had the choice of "other"!!! But since we do not, we all need to prayfully consider which way the Lord would have us vote. Let's face facts: these political figures all tell us what we want to hear, but the truth is that they are all controlled by outside interests. We need to affect "change" one soul at a time. And PLEASE, don't fight amongst ourselves - when we do that the enemy wins. We take our eye off the prize.....

I have been following this election rather closely. I don't think that as a Christian I should vote Democrat or Republican, but we should vote "people". Which candidate is for all people? As a soldier I really don't want to be away in Iraq, Afgan, etc away from my family for the next four years. Sen Obama seems to be for all people, while Sen McCain is for the people that are very well off financially like most of the people that are supporting him. Jesus was for all people, he wasn't for their lifestyles, their belief system,, but He died for all. We voted for our current president on the basis of him being a Christian and what do we have now? I wouldn't call it a particularly favorable conditions.

One last point and I am done:
The Dems are not the party that protect the poor. That is just propaganda. They exploit the poor by enabling them to stay poor and beaten economically. The poor are enabled to stay on the dole and are not helped to be self reliant.Of course there are truly helpless, unwell people and both parties attempt to take care of them, but that is really the job of the churches, isn't it?The Dem and Repub leaders are mostly very rich, well educated and of some aristocratic lineages. So don't go thinking the humble little dems are the poor beaten down party who are only in sympathy with the poor and beaten down. They are not. They get rich keeping the poor poor.Ok? I am done. Thanks

Ha ! One thing is for sure.... you can quote all the scriptures from Genesis to Revelation....God STILL DOES THINGS AFTER THE WILL OF HIS OWN COUNSEL AND NOT YOUR WHO YOU DO OR DO NOT SUPPORT. I believe the racist slip of the evangs is showing. We spend a lifetime praying for God to send a Christian into public office. He answers prayer the way he always does...not the way we expect, and He does that to reveal ourselves to ourselves. He raises up a person of color, a woman, and an eliteist. What do you do you back a man who admits he is not a person of faith. I want a man in the White House who has a prayer life and a connection to the Throne Room, and not the political back room in DC. I have a pastor I love and respect but I don't agree with everything he says. My pastor said this past sunday it is not important to have a Christian in the White House because we as Christians have to pray anyway. That is such a bad message. ANd you know him! How can you support McCain when he threw Rod Parsley and John Hagee under the bus once the media turned on them. McCain used them and he's using Palin and he's using you. I have been a supporter of your mag for years but your slip is showing!!!I think Obama is demonstrating a Christ like example. Abortion is not going to stop because if that were the case Bush who says he's against it has done nothing, and McCain who has been apart of the political landscape for decades is not going to do anything either. Women are gonna have abortions let's may it safe for them. Same sex marriage is an issue for the states and not the feds.

No one is surprised by your endorsement of McCain. But what is very insulting is your verbage about how much you want to see America with a African American President. That's the biggest LIE since satan in the Garden of Eden. You want someone that looks like YOU! The Republican party does NOT represent what America is about. Just watch the convention. It looks like a Klu Klux Klan rally. It's the party of the old white people standing for old, white traditions. I'll call your office today to cancel my subscription.
By the way Mr. Strang, when will you put Sarah Palin's pregnant teen daughter on the cover of your magazine and glorify her like the rest of your Republican buddies? If she were black, she'd be villified! You Republicans are nuts!!

I think it's important we look into other issues besides those few you've shared (i.e. the poor, the diseased and marginalized), but I also will vote for McCain/Palin. I simply do not trust Obama and feel like my ears are being tickled.
For anyone who might think abortion is not that big an issue, or that we should let all the people choose, I have a hard time accepting that. 1/3 of my generation was aborted. That means there'd be 50% more people with whom I would have graduated and went to college and into the working world. It's hard to say it's not a huge issue when that's the case. I'm all for allowing people to have free will, but what about the free will of the millions slaughtered in abortion?

I don't see how any Christian can vote for a candidate like Obama who supports killing unborn children.
As for helping the poor -- don't count on the government to do it, let's do it ourselves -- mobilize the church to take care of it. Many people expect the government to solve problems that the church can/should address.
From a non-Christian standpoint, do you really want a President that has almost zero experience in national government? If so, Obama is you guy. If you prefer someone who's been around and who's proven to make the right choices for the country (even when it's against his own party's wishes), it's McCain. Granted, McCain doesn't have executive experience -- but neither does Obama (or even Biden for that matter.) In fact, Sarah Palin has more executive experience than the entire Democratic ticket.
Steve -- keep up the great work. Yours is an important voice that needs to be heard.

I agree with your support of Senator McCain for President. McCain has fought Bush and other Republicans over spending and earmarks throughout his career. A Christian voting for Obama over McCain is the same as agreeing to obey the Five commandments. We have free choice, but trying to rationalize God's Word is not a choice. There will always be 10 commandments. Obama believes people get to heaven through the God's/idols of their religions, including the "black" Jesus of Christianity (liberation theology model). That is wrong!
Last night Sarah Palin convincingly showed why the Republican ticket is best qualified to lead this country forward. Obama has so much baggage and so little experience. He has been in position to lead, but he was more interested in promoting himself. Why else would he vote present 130 times in the Illinois Senate? Why would he attend a racist church for 20 years and be friends with an unrepentent terrorist? If he had high ethics, why did he accept a sweetheart deal from a now convicted felon?
Like Governor Palin said, being a mayor is like being a community organizer, except with the mayor you have real responsbilities.
Palin is the rising star in the Republican party who John McCain recognized as the leader he needed to win the White House. She fought the old boys network in Alaska and will do the same in Washington.
The attempted smears by Obama surrogates only proves how worried they are about her status as an American leader who connects with America. She is one of us. One of the people who are clinging to their guns and religion.

You said in your last article "it is time that we elect an African-American President of the United States." My question is WHY? It is no more time to elect an African-American that it is to elect an Italian-American, or a German-American. The color of a persons skin does not have any bearing on what rank or station he has in life.

Because of freedom we have the ability to speak of our likes and dislikes about a particular political candidate or party. Because God is love he gave us the ability to make choices and gave us guidlines as to how to make choices. The Bible also tells us to pray; to pray for those "in Authority over us."
It's easier to be negative and to shoot down a president whose term is ending; can one say anything good he has done? I hear about the war; my husband is a troop as well as my son. Neither have been Reservest or National Guard but enlisted wanting to serve their country; understanding why they are there. My son just finished a two year deployment; do you think hearing he fights a useless war is rewarding?
Freedom is something many have died for. I believe we have all been taught to pray in the church and that is what we need a lot more of especially now. It is our responsibility! If we would spend as much time praying as complaining we would probably see some things happen.

Mr. Strang, the problem you have with situations like Lakeland, etc. is that now your judgment is at question. No one is going to listen to you. And worse still, whatever you say people will go with just the opposite of what you say just because you said it. Your credibility is shot!
When McCain chose Palin, my first thought was "Prophet" Chuck Pierce must have prophesied to him using his numerology, astrology and kabballah to show McCain how to Understand the Times. And "Apostles" Peter Wagner and Dutch Sheets must have advised him, just like they did with Todd Bentley. The Palin choice makes no sense whatsoever. I'm amazed at the "People of the Lie" vocal support of her. With a straight face Republicans are saying she is qualified to even be president. You have to be joking!!!
To respond to the comment about Palin prophesying, we know that people prophesy out of their own hearts all the time. Just because she says she is of God doesn't mean that she is. Let's not forget all the discussion about discernment!!!
The entire Republican party (I voted for Bush) has gotten off track, and they are now on the wrong side of what God is doing. Their greed, self-righteous attitude and lack of genuine love are very much evident. Also, there are more serious issues in our country and our world than abortion (I'm pro-life) and gays (I'm anti-gay marriage).
Mr. Strang, you are missing the move of God for today and what is on God's agenda. Well, that's not surprising because you have been on the opposite side of God on a lot of issues lately.

There are so many factors considering your choice, and clearly that is your choice, but racism, hatred and lack of confidence in an African American is what it is really about. You religious advocates are always preaching about moral values, but racism is always over looked. To say that you are supporting McCain because of his experience, that is fine, it is your choice, but look where experience has put this country and our children, and to say your support is because of morale values, Palin's seventeen year old daughter is pregnat, what does the bible say about fornication, but you want to focus on abortion.. What about fornication? This country is not ready for change. What you want to do is continue to oppressor those that are not in your tax bracket. It is your choie who you vote for, but keep in mind what you are thinking is going to come to past just because you are using your magazine as a voice to sway millions of people from change. I will tell you today, it will not be so!

I am a non-American and former subscriber to this magazine. Believe me your comment is reaching christian communities far and wide. Permit me to make a few comments and ask a few questions:
Is abortion a greater sin than drunkeness and drug use or lying, in God's sight? No. There is no big sin or little sin. God will judge each of us according to our choices not the other person's sins.
Regarding the issues you highlighted on both sides I would have loved to see your biblical references on ALL the issues for and against. Isn't it your responsibility as a 'son of God' to pray and ask God for the blessing of a righteous President. Of course the issues of the day must be examined. However, it is my belief that first and foremost we have to trust. In our own strength we will make mistakes.
What the candidates say at this time is not as important as the decisions that will be made after the elections. This is where we as christian need discernment and the leading of the Holy Spirit. God changes hearts. He also hardens hearts as He did with Pharoh because He alone must get the glory as our Saviour; not any man as someone said in their comment. His purpose must be fulfilled and His kingdom must come on earth and He will use whom He will. For that I am grateful that there is a God and it is not up to us.
I also support those who say that this magazine should not be used to publicly air your personal views on such a sensitive and democratic issue. It is obvious that persons will be swayed by your comments and views - those who cannot quite understand and interpret all the issuess, the laid back etc. If you cause a man to fall you are guilty of a sin and God will judge you. Rather Mr. Strang pray for your nation, that it will be a Godly nation whoever God puts in control because all authority comes from God. Pray that christian Americans will vote as the Holy Spirit leads which can only be the candidate God wants as President in this season.
Finally, if Obama is elected will you support/encourage/rebuke him as necessary, through your magazine and do the same if McCain is elected, or is this article simply to have McCain elected President?
God help America. God save America. God bless America.
I will be praying.

The reasons that I cannot support Obama come from his acceptance speech. 1st he stated that it was the governments responsibility to help you pay your credit card bills. huh? He stated that more Americans have cars that we can't afford to drive, is this the governments fault? It is our responsibility to spend within our means. If you can't afford a car, don't buy it. If you can't make credit card payments, cut them up.
He talked about a compassionate nation, yet he didn't tell you that republicans give way more to charity than their democratic counterparts.
He stated that the government should help us. Why?
Finally, when he touched on taxing businesses more, I realized that he didn't get it. The more business is taxed, the more a product costs the consumer, the more sales tax the consumer pays. So in essence, the consumer is double taxed.
If I weren't a Christian and abortion & gay marriage were not important to me, I'd still have to vote AGAINST Obama

I choose McCain/Palin. Did you hear her speak last night? She spoke the truth with confidence and love. As a team, they will represent the people and our families (not just the government)with integrity and strong ideals and morals. I trust them, and God has given me a tremendous peace about voting for them. God is in control ... do not fear. "His eyes are on the ways of men; He sees their every step." Job 34:21

I support Barack Obama wholeheartedly for President of the United States of America. Sometimes people can get so caught up in their own self-righteousness that they forget Jesus' commandment to love God with all of our heart and soul and to love our neighbor as we love ourselves. Barack is the only candidate that does not allow some political agenda to side track his vision, purpose and mission to take care of even the least of thee. Our Father in heaven gives us free choice/will. He instructs us to choose life. We should not be crippled and so focused on two agendas that we forget the commandment that Jesus gave us and forget that to whom much is given, much is also required. Only a hypocrite can allow millions of children and people in America to live in poverty and not have food, resources or able to receive a quality education as their fortunate counterparts receive. Only a hypocrite can push the agenda of two issues, when even our Father in Heaven gives us free will, while simultaneously ignoring all the other directives our God requires of us. Barack Obama is the only candidate that understands what Jesus expects of us... Jesus spoke against a person's sin, but he feed the hungry, restored those in need, healed the sick and blessed the poor... Jesus extended his mercy toward the sinners. Homosexuality and abortions have occurred since the beginning of time and I fully rebuke both and all sins, just as Christ does. However, we must, as Christians, unite and accept the true purpose of our role as Christians. One great person once taught me that before we can even illustrate God’s goodness to a broken/lost person, we must first feed them. With the economy issues, healthcare issues and our country losing good jobs to our overseas counterparts, people are broken deeply and we need a President that has true love and compassion for people just like Jesus did when he walked the earth as man. We need a candidate that can feed people first. Once we feed people and address their needs, then we can show them God loves and cares for them. It is at that very moment that we can win souls to the Lord!

I thank you for what you have written about John McCain. People today are so caught up in the "super star" of Obama that they are not looking at the real man and what he wants to do in our government. "WE THE PEOPLE" need to be opening our eyes and praying like never before!!! I hold to the truth that God will ALWAYS be in control and knows who our leaders will be before it comes to pass but we need to be seeking HIS will in our voting decision. People have become immune to the sin that has slowly creeped into this world and made it acceptable. We must be very careful because we will be accountable before God for ALL of our decisions on this earth.

Wow! I'm amazed at some of these comments. And we are calling ourselves Christians. That means "Christ Like".
I have to ask, have you forgotten what was learned in High School Government class? 3 branches of government, checks and balances? You cannot blame (or give credit) to a president for the condition of the country. It takes all three branches of government to get us where we are. In some cases it takes years to see the results.
We talk about how BAD Bush has done and how HE has gotten us into where the country is today. We ignore the fact that the 110th congress is the least productive group, thus beneficial, since the early 1800s. Let's not forget that THEY are democratically controlled.
This political bantering feeds right into satan's plan to wreck America and Christians are giving him all ammo to get it done.
Remember: 2Ch 7:14 My people who are called by My name humble themselves and pray and seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, will forgive their sin and will heal their land.
It doesn't say: IF my people who are called by my name will set up party lines, establish color boundaries, draw denominational limits and create political platforms.
Repent America! You are so blessed and yet we want to take God out of the formula and throw Obama or McCain into it. Make no mistake, it will not surprize God as to who ends up President of the United States (or senator, or congress, or the judicial system) But God is leaving that choice to us! Don't fool yourselves into thinking this is out of our hands. God expects us to go to our knees (yes humility) and pray for wisdom and guidance. We are then to shut up and listen to that still small voice giving you direction. You cannot hear that voice if you are babbling about party, race, gender, past or present conditions.
Get your faces out of your TV's and computers and get it into the Living Word of God. Let the Bible be your guide.
Please people, I emplore you to let God be God and not make anyone on earth god.

I was always in favour of Repubs because of my beliefs and conservative values but why are those who support prolife choice so selective on the 10 Commandments? On the abortion point...What I find absolutley astounding is that when I read the Ten Commandments it does not just talk about not committing murder. God will judge us on all 10 not just on the point of murder (the unborn) so, I think we should do a reality check here Mr. Strang.
Some of the same Evangelicals and Pentecostals and Mega Church pastors who are screaming murder are committing adultery, addicted to porn, stealing through donations to their televangelism and tithes and I could go on forever.

You shall not make yourself any graven image [to worship it] or any likeness of anything that is in the heavens above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth;
You shall not bow down yourself to them or serve them; for I the Lord your God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children to the third and fourth generation of those who hate Me,
But showing mercy and steadfast love to a thousand generations of those who love Me and keep My commandments.
You shall not use or repeat the name of the Lord your God in vain [that is, lightly or frivolously, in false affirmations or profanely]; for the Lord will not hold him guiltless who takes His name in vain.
[Earnestly] remember the Sabbath day, to keep it holy (withdrawn from common employment and dedicated to God).
Six days you shall labor and do all your work,
But the seventh day is a Sabbath to the Lord your God; in it you shall not do any work, you, or your son, your daughter, your manservant, your maidservant, your domestic animals, or the sojourner within your gates.
For in six days the Lord made the heavens and the earth, the sea, and all that is in them, and rested the seventh day. That is why the Lord blessed the Sabbath day and hallowed it [set it apart for His purposes].
Regard (treat with honor, due obedience, and courtesy) your father and mother, that your days may be long in the land the Lord your God gives you.
You shall not commit murder.
You shall not commit adultery.
You shall not steal.
You shall not witness falsely against your neighbor.
You shall not covet your neighbor's house, your neighbor's wife, or his manservant, or his maidservant, or his ox, or his donkey, or anything that is your neighbor's.
That being said, I was not surprised that you endorsed McCain. I am however surprised at your comments some of which first of all are inaccurate. I'll only mention one here...Obama has major accomplishments as a Senator. Get the facts before writing so authoritatively. Please review your report again to make sure you are accurate with your other comments. God will be judging you as well.
This entire piece is just more evidence of how lost the sheep are because of all the sheperds who continue to mislead and abuse their authority.
It's no wonder that New Age teaching is on the rise and godlessness is rampant because believers are engaged in causes that do not progress the Gospel.

Dear Steve,
I've been following your commentaries on the upcoming election and have had the same reservations you shared earlier. As a Christian, I would not vote for Obama although McCain was not someone I considered a good choice--until now.
I wholeheartedly agree with your views about his choice for vice president. At first, the news of Gov. Sarah Palin as McCain's running mate came as quite a shock to me. I had never heard of her before and, therefore, knew nothing of her views on issues important to me, such as the sanctity of life, family values, and the role of government. As an executive mother of two, I am aware that balancing motherhood and work brings its challenges. So naturally I was concerned how she would balance holding the second highest office in the land, having 5 children, one of whom is a special needs infant and needs her attention.
But after hearing Gov. Palin's speech last night at the RNC, I have no doubt she is ready for the job as vice president. Her presentation was absolutely flawless. Her commanding presence, her poise, confidence, and strong character came shining through. Her accomplishments as a public servant on a local and state level were proof that she has more experience than Obama who, as she put it so eloquently, "has written two memoirs but has never authored one piece of legistlation." Classic!
I have no doubt that McCain made the right choice and brought balance back to his campaign.
Let's hear it for "pit bulls with lipstick!"

I am confussed now. If I (a white male) make a sweeping statement about black people in general, I am a racist. Why then, when someone of color makes a sweeping statement about all whites who vote for McCain, is he not a racist. Do you have to, by definition, be white in order to be racists?

I will continue to support Barack Obama for President. I am a Christian, someone that God allowed free choice. Who am I to take that away from anyone? God placed Adam and Eve in the garden of Eden and told them what to do, and what to eat. He didn't remove the tree, but gave them a choice to obey him or not. Who am we to take that away those freedoms from anyone? Every consequence has an action, and it is up to us to determine what path we will choose. Not government to determine it for us.

It's interesting that on the same day I get from Steve Strang the McCain endorsement & J. lee Grady an article about having discernment. The editors & owners of Charisma are not using discernment. First of all you're wrong for endorsing anybody. Secondly, you need to be encouraging people to pray that the Lord will ordain our next president. You look away from obvious unholiness w/in the Republican party because they say their po-life & against same sex marriage. But what have they done concerning the weightier matters? It's really hard to see you as followers of Jesus Christ. You may as well go get your Klan robes because that's who you act like, klansmen. For myself I'm not voting in this election because neither candidate represents my interests as a woman of God. Charisma & its editors should be ashamed of themseves for their own departure from the things of God.

I too will support Barack Obama. After watching that mess that Rudy Guiliani delivered last night, I wouldn't support McCain if he was the only man running.
This convention has shown the uglier side of the Republicans and glorifying a woman whose child is about to become a single parent. While I don't have a problem with that per se (because things happen), but there is hypocrisy all around as far as the Republicans are concerned. Last I checked, McCain has never run a state or anything else -- so where's his experience. Oh yeah, I forgot, him being a POW makes him highly qualified -- because that is the only thing I hear coming out of this convention.

Thank you for your comments and understanding of what our nation faces. As I read through some of the comments it scared me that Christians could come to such different conclusions. What deception our nation is facing. Keep up the great work that you do. Wayne

I am not American but read, with interest, the comments concerning the election. My thoughts are simple: 1) Any thoughts of this unjust war to "Victory" are both fantasy and corrupt. Is this the war against terror still or something else? If it was about a corrupt dictator why has America then sat by when African nations have had full spread genocide into the millions of deaths? Iraq started with a lie (anyone refute that?) and is continued on while your economy has suffered. 2) Obama has no leadership history? Your present leaders supposedly have that expereience and what has happened? Poor economy, a war against what exactly? To bring democracy where possibly the majority of Iraqis do not want it? I missed that poll. 3) I did not realize when I was reading all the "Christian" articles that I would then be reading political endorsements. Is that your place, to teach me your thoughts about politics? 4) Finally, why is it always about two political parties? Could not you, and your Christian readership, start a political party like the Christian Heritage Party in Canada that gets all of its' directives form the Bible? So now, by your own admission, it is the lesser of two evils to vote for, no matter what side of the fence you are on. A non expereinced caring leader or an expereineced veteran who believes war is an answer and there is always a victor. I wonder what spin the definiton of Victory will tkae. America has a history of never losing, no matter what the actual outcome. They even won WWII by themselves.

As your magazine's editor, I applaud the fact that you are bold enough to take a stand for a political cause. As Christians we have that responsibility. I also appreciate the fact that you allow disagreements to be posted. I however strongly agree with you and support the McCain/Palin ticket. I read that some who support the Democrats forget that our Republican President at this time has had a majority Democratic Congress these last several years. Our country has also had more MAJOR natural disasters during the last 8 years than in the past. We have also had a strike against our country on our homeland. The Republican party is for lifting up individuals and not for government control of them. To keep people on welfare does not help them. God gave us some very good commandments that allowed freedom of choices - but with limits. "Thou shall not kill" is one. When He says He knows us in our mother's womb, that tells me that the "pro-choice" is not a God-given freedom to support. Our concern as Christians should be not only for voting for President, but also for men and women who would serve our country well - making laws that benefit individuals and placing people in the courts who can interpret God-given laws, not change them.

I believe if you have a statement you truly believe in, you should stand up for it and that means not hiding under the "anonymous" option. Voting (or not voting) for a person based on their color (black, brown, white, yellow, tan, etc) is ignorant, just as voting solely based on someone's gender is. To a true follower of Christ, there should be no color. Sadly, we still see it sometimes. Yes, Jesus told us (His followers) to feed the poor, the widows, the orphans, etc. He did not tell us to depend on government programs to do this. The Church needs to do these things. Unfortunately, as it was in the Depression, people turned to the government to provide their needs and not God and so it seems today that , sadly, Christians are doing the same. As for abortion, the "right" to murder an unborn child is no more of a "right" than it is to murder a born one. Freedom of choice really means freedom to murder and usually for the reason that the baby would be "inconvenient". We know homosexuality is wrong. While Christians may not want to push their morals on other Americans, many of these laws that are proposed will severely take away the rights of Christians. It will make speaking your morals illegal (hate crimes, etc). That is serious. If the rights of the Church are limited, it makes it difficult for us to fulfill the mandates of Christ. Vote your morals. This election will show the general moral status of the United States. Pray and seek out the Lord. While the following scripture was speaking to the Jews, followers of Christ are also His people and I believe this promise is true for us also: "If My people, who are called by My name, shall humble themselves, pray, seek My face and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and forgive their sin and heal their land." 2 Chron. 7:22 It would seem that it is the Lord's people who need to humble themselves, pray, seek and repent then God will hear, forgive and heal the land. The Bible tells us to pray for our leaders. Have you prayed for the candidate you DON'T want to win? I have, because there is a possibility he will be my next president.

Steve,
I commend you for allowing such unfiltered, unedited comments to be left on your website. I am amazed that even believers cannot see the double standard that Obama brings with his run for president. If you can't see how wrong Obama is for this country you are either blind, unthinking, unwilling to handle the truth or under some demonic influence. I can understand the secular media wanting their poster child to get into the White House to further their causes but memebers of Christ's body. If Obama is elected it will be a reflection of God's judgment. Talking about roosters coming home to roost!

I have some very mixed feelings about the presidency. Even though you say that the Democrats are for increased government size, the Bush administration is responsible for the third largest government expansion in history. The fruits of this governmental expansion has been abridgement of constitutional rights and fear under the guise of a war on terror. This administration has also been very secretive and has lied to us. If this is what a pro-family, pro-life presidency is about, I don't want another. This administration has also lied about John McCain, to the point where he now toes the Bush line and has become his lapdog.
I am not confident about Barack Obama. 2008 has produced two top lackluster front runners where the election is more about selecting the lesser of two evils. I am going to use my choice as a voter to go either third-party or write-in someone who actually has some integrity.
(Note: Under Clinton, spending was under control; under Bush, spending skyrocketed. Republicans predicted Democrats would do that 10 years ago.)

The United States, whatever our past glories, is devolving into a moral and spiritual cesspool. This is being done by spiritual principalities that have seduced both political parties by their various appetites, moral, economic, political, etc. While not neccessary up until now, the kingdom of God must and will distinguish itself from all the kingdoms of this world, including America. The boundaries must be drawn in order for the Bride of Christ to be purified in these last days. Christian leaders of the future will not endorse any candidate because they will know and obey "the signs of the times."
To endorse any candidate from this point on reveals an abysmal lack of discernment and dscerning of spirits, and a refusal to shed from themselves the cultural presuppositions the enemy has integrated into our conservative Christian mindsets since the early 1800s. To endorse any candidate is to put allegiance to one's country over the kingdom of God in these last days. To whom do you pledge allegiance?
